Dallas does not speak Weddle's language ($$$); he wouldn't be interested until they do. We all know Dallas no longer pays high dollar for age.
Spin it, debate it, analyze it, whatever....
Bottom line is they don't seem to want to pay market value for anyone. If they don't come on the cheap, Dallas doesn't want them.
The Carr signing was not only a bust within itself, but now the team is gun shy about signing really anyone of consequence.
Are teams overpaying? Maybe, but those number are MARKET VALUE because someone is willing to pay it.
I'm all for not overspending on free agents, but you'd better couple that with drafting VERY well. That is to mean, your later round picks need to contribute.
You cant have a philosophy of building through the draft, then use the excuse that later round picks aren't expected to contribute when they don't.
Well, you CAN do the both of those, but youre also going to lose plenty of football games.

He had some injuries this past season but that could happen to anyone. In 2014 he was all-pro. Get him on a 2-3 year deal gives us a huge boost over Wilcox/church. And gives us a few years to draft his replacement

According to the San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur, the Raiders are "working on" free agent S Eric Weddle.
Tafur says he hasn't been able to confirm that Weddle will visit the team yet, but it sounds like a visit might be in the works. Aside from this news, Weddle's market has been silent nearing the 24-hour mark into the NFL's new league year, though the Panthers were rumored to have some interest late last week. Weddle, 31, and Reggie Nelson, 33, are free agency's top safeties left.
His age and injuries scare me, and the best case in the situation is if Jerry gets him to sign on of then playb per play deals. Those type of contract helps the Cowboys.
Seems like I am one of the few on here that don't wanna see Weddle with a star on his helmet. We as fans can get excited about a player's past production from years past but I am more of a what have you done for me lately type of guy and looking at Weddle's stat line from 2015 it appears Weddle hasn't done much within the last year.
There is a reason the Chargers are letting him walk this off season and will more than likely draft Weddle's replacement in (Ramsey) with the 3rd pick. So why in the world would the Cowboys front office replace one under performing safety (JJ Wilcox) who i believe is in the final year of his contract with a 31 year old safety in Weddle, whose better days are behind him..
Not exactly. Jeremy Mincey was 30 when signed. Weddle just turned 31 in January. At this point, nobody knows what his money range is and if he qualifies as high ticket.
No but it's been suprising quiet for weddle.
Only thing I've seen is steelers ate interested in him.
Once Weddle gets our low ball offer, he'll move on.
Fish backing off now.
Weddle update
impression of #Cowboys #NFLFreeAgency sniffing around S Eric Weddle? He smells too expensive.
