We should go after Jared Allen instead -- he's younger and has more left in the tank

7.5 half sacks facing double teams? there line was pretty banged up also.
I highly doubt he was getting any more double teams than Ware was getting on an equally bad line.

Plus he is 34. I wonder if he would suddenly fit with the "youth movement" that people seem to believe is happening right now.

Peppers hasnt missed games, but he has also been injured pretty bad the last couple years. He better be cost effective.

I don't know why I have never been impressed with peppers. He always seemed like he was lazy and took the majority of plays off. I think he was bitter he had to football over basketball.

Dude is a freak and will make a few mouth dropping plays, but he seemed destined for more if he cared

I used to totally agree with you when he was at Carolina -- seemed like his football never measured up to his freak athletic ability. But I have to admit, it seemed like he picked it up in Chicago.

Of course at this point he's probably getting to the point where he's really going to slow down.

I am going to laugh at all the "rebuilding" articles and posts when we sign him and/or Melton, though.

So maybe a 2014 starting DL of....

Peppers Melton McClain Selvie?

Are you sleeping well as an opposing QB?

If we were to sign these two, how would a rookie DT start this year if he's not a 1-tech?

I mean, I would be all for bringing him in on a one year deal, maybe two if its cheaper. It would be nice to bring in him and Melton or another starting quality DL but with around 7 mil to spend, that could be wishful thinking.

i'm not opposed to this since he really hasn't gotten any action since being released. it helps to get us a better $$ deal if we decide to go that route. honestly if it's cheap enough i'd go the Seattle route and snag Peppers and Allen and just do a full on rotation of d-linemen each game...but i'm selfish, lol

He's had 11.5 and 7 sacks respectively over the last 2 years. Almost identical to Ware's 11.5 and 6. Plus Peppers hasn't missed a game since 2006, so while his body is slowing, it isn't breaking down. He'd easily be the best DE on the roster, though I know that isn't saying much.

Peppers is a complete End though and had always been part of successful defenses, think he would be a nice get for a year or two, we can't go forward with what we have on the DL now

He's got his work cut out for him.

One day it looks like we're interested in rebuilding within the framework of a "youth movement." The next day, we're 'interested' in a 34-year old DE who is entrenched on the downside of his career. Well, he had seven sacks last year, so I guess it's hard to sneeze at that, even if he's not what he once was. The Bears released him to save themselves from a $14 mil contractual agreement. I'm betting Peppers will seek considerably more than the Cowboys are willing or able to pay. Due diligence? Guess so.

I'd still draft rookies to rotate in. Seattle drafted two DL that did not even play much last year and they are still signing free agents.

I know it is not as hackneyed as the CB thing, but you absolutely can never have enough DL.

If you paid attention to our last Super Bowl dynasty, that deep DL rotation was key to our success just as much as the Triplets.
