I don't think Mitch Petrus' parents will mind me sharing some information with you guys since it isn't anything that has any effect on his draft status.

I was talking to them for the first time in a long time Sunday and, naturally, mentioned that I would love it for Mitch to end up with the Cowboys.

They told me that Dallas was one of about four or five teams to talk to Mitch (I'm assuming at the combine, but didn't want to pry). They also said the Cowboys will be bringing him in for a visit.

I'm guessing that they are looking at him as a possibility for their second-round pick.

Also, my wife told me that they mentioned something interesting about his combine performance in the bench press. Before he started lifting, he was told the combine record was 43 repetitions instead of 45. So when Mitch got to 45, he thought he had the record and stopped. He apparently would have broken it if he had been told the right number.

Sounds good to me. I am not that sold on Iupati anyway. I'd rather get a Jerry or Mike Johnson or this guy.

Dallas probably doesn't expect Iupati to be available.

If he kept going was there a chance hed hurt himself? Why stop otherwise?

I don't know. I assume he was tired and just decided to quit since he had the record. Why push out one more when you don't have to?

To impress your potential employers? He obviously has an a advantage over the Bruce Cambells, or Vlad Ducasses but still

Show my lack of CF knowledge here.....Who?:

The Arkansas guard who was walked on at the school as a tight end, and played tight end and fullback until being asked to bulk up and move to guard. He's only played guard for two years, so he's still fairly raw at the position.

Hard worker who will keep himself in shape and put his all into becoming better. Was first-team All-SEC as a senior.

Appears his stock might be lower than I think, but hey, if Dallas takes him at the end of the third, I'll be happy, too.

I would think he'd already accomplished that, and since he thought he had the record ...

We could use another super strong OL guy. Larry Allen benched 700lbs? WoW. Dat benched over 500lbs. Those two were two of our better players at their positions. So bring on the bench press king!

I was going to say no way in the 2nd round. I think that would be a huge reach. Late 3rd or 4th would be a decent pick.

I love this quote:

He characterized his sudden explosion to 45 repetitions as a mixture of adrenaline and the can-do attitude that he'd learned as a walk-on. "It's not luck, I can tell you that," Petrus said... "Not being the biggest, baddest guy on the field, I had to be the hardest working guy on the field. It is what got me through the 45 today. I didn't wake up this morning feeling like a totally different person. I'm not a freak of nature. I weighed 230 in high school. I weigh 310 now. I do whatever it takes. You reap what you sow."

Yeah, I thought his stock was higher than it appears to be. But I don't really care when Dallas drafts him, was just happy to hear the Cowboys are interested.
