Didn't Jared Allen have like 3 reps? Maybe they will put the bench press on the 50yd line one day!

Mitch Petrus, Arkansas
Height: 6-3. Weight: 310.
Projected 40 Time: 5.17.
Combine 40 Time: 5.29.
Benchx225: 45. Arm: 33 3/4.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.

/10: Mitch Petrus notched a whopping 45 reps of 225 pounds on Friday, tying a Combine record. The bench press doesn't mean all that much in the long run (unless you're Al Davis), but that's still an impressive feat.

1/17/10: Started 12 games for Arkansas this year and qualified for the AP All-America Second Team.

2/10/09: Academically ineligible. Missed the 2008 season

opps that doe not sound good

so your going with a 6-3 guy over Kosier who is 6-5 - oh yea but hes got long arms

don't think it will happen - unless they are planning to play him at C

I fail to see how he would be a good second round value. Third and beyond, yes. But I do not see Petrus as among the top 59 players in this draft.

Agreed. But I also don't know if he'd be available at the bottom of the third when we pick.

That said, I think we'll do some moving around on draft day and will end up with another third rounder somewhere.

And although it might be overkill, I would still like to see us grab him up even if we get Iupati or Pouncey in round 1.

We may trade completely out of the 2nd round.

The thing about this draft though is there will be guys well into the 2nd round that teams have 1st round grades on.

I just hope 2 or 3 teams make bonehead picks early in this draft and throw everything off.

I don't think Mitch Petrus' parents will mind me sharing some information with you guys since it isn't anything that has any effect on his draft status.

I was talking to them for the first time in a long time Sunday and, naturally, mentioned that I would love it for Mitch to end up with the Cowboys.

They told me that Dallas was one of about four or five teams to talk to Mitch (I'm assuming at the combine, but didn't want to pry). They also said the Cowboys will be bringing him in for a visit.

I'm guessing that they are looking at him as a possibility for their second-round pick.

Also, my wife told me that they mentioned something interesting about his combine performance in the bench press. Before he started lifting, he was told the combine record was 43 repetitions instead of 45. So when Mitch got to 45, he thought he had the record and stopped. He apparently would have broken it if he had been told the right number.

I would think it will be 3rd or 4th round if they select him.

Man, I hope not! There is an abundance of talent that should be there when we pick.

I imagine we will trade down at some point and I think the guys who will be available @ 27 may be to good to pass on.

With our 2nd round pick we could trade down a few spots and maybe get an extra 4th or 5th.

I would hope that is not the case. I think Dallas needs to find quality players that you hope to hit on in the 1st 3 rds of the draft. I would hope for a change we stay put and get some quality players and extra 4th or 5th is not going give us the quality you would find earlier in the draft. JMO

Thing is I think the quality is going to go well into the 3rd round this year. This draft is extremely deep.

Plus you got your teams that dont have a clue what they are doing that let quality guys slide deep into the draft.

And a trade down doesn't mean we have to move down 10 or 15 spots.
