The Cardinals were ranked #2 last season in average yards per carry. Considering their injury issues at both the RB and OL position, I think we can attribute their success, in large part, to superior coaching.
The successful running attack also resulted in the Cardinals being ranked #4 in time of possession. A good running attack is the favorite ally of that team's defense.
Meanwhile, of the 14 QBs last season to play in all 17 games, only three were sacked less than Kyler Murray.
Klayton Adams performed an absolute miracle this past season.
With an offensive line already in transition, he lost starting RG Will Hernandez after 4 games. Former Bengals1st round pick Jonah Williams went down after 6 games. Thir best lineman, Paris Johnson, their #1 pick in 2023, went down after 14 games.
Only two O-linemen started all 17 games. Evan Brown was an undrafted veteran free agent journeyman who played for six different teams in his five seasons. Hjolte Froholdt, a former Patriot 4th round pick, was on his 3rd team in five seasons.
In all, ten O-linemen had at least one start last season. Two were undrafted. The four that was drafted by the Cardinals were in either their rookie or 2nd year. Another two were 7th round picks by other teams.
Despite the musical chairs along the O-line, the Cardinals were 3rd to last in the category of false starts.
The fact that Murray survived all 17 games should be seen as a tribute to some amazing coaching on the offensive line.
if Jerry Jones doesn't screw this up, Klayton Adams would be a great addition to this coaching staff.
