Not the best draft to have a top 5 overall pick...

I'd say lets trade back and acquire more picks.

This draft has a "2013" feel to it where Eric Fisher went 1st overall. The first round produced some nice players in Sheldon Richardson, Kyle Long, DeAndre Hopkins and Travis Frederick, however there was a lot of depth in this draft and I would say that outside of Hopkins, the best players came in the later rounds: Honey Badger, Eddie Lacy, Jamie Collins, Le'Veon Bell, etc,

I'm not sold on any of the QBs in this draft as far as them being the future franchise QB...I'd rather continue to add to a pretty solid defense and get a nice RB and WR to go along with it.

Qb's don't have to be Joe Montana or Tom Brady to have a successful career.

Yep. People keep talking about going defense early in the draft but our defense actually looks good. And I imagined they'd create more turnovers if we had leads over teams and forced teams to become desperate. What's clear is we sorely lack offensive talent besides Tony, Dez and the OL. I wouldn't mind going QB in the 1st and RB in the 2nd. Or even if we prefer a guy like Wentz, we can trade back 10-15 spots, pick up a bunch of extra picks, and still get our top QB and RB.

Yup. And we've had far too many 3 and outs. Focusing more on the offensive side of the ball to help us sustain more drives will help this defense as well.

this! exactly! all these folks who think our defense is an issue need to heed this language. our defense is dependent on our offense. its always been that way. we cant score many points and our defense wont be able to hold on for long.

That, and if Rod unleashes them more often I have no doubt we'll create turnovers.

A QB of the Future and Stud Running back in the first 2 rounds will make it all better.

I dont think this 2016 QB class is worth taking one of them very high. I have to admit i read alot about them but never watched one.

The RBs in the draft are not good ones too. I watched most of them. Ezekil is the only one i would consider but not in the first round. He is no Melvin Gordon and i did not consider him a first rounder last year. And for sure there is no Todd Gurley in this draft. If i am honest i am very disappointed that we didnt pick him up (trade up). He was my #1 player of choice. He was the Aaron Donald in the 2015 draft to me.

I think we should go a different direction with our higher picks. I'd love us to trade the first one down so we can have two good first round pick (like a #10 and #2x). We could go WR/CB/DT.

Although I agree with you guys saying our Defense is good, I still think we need to go CB in the first. Mo probably will not be re-signed. Jones will most likely be moved to FS full time. Carr is GARBAGE, and I'm guessing he'll be cut. Scanny coming back helps, but there's no guarantee he'll be the same player when he returns.

According to playoffstatus.com, it still is possible for us to get the top pick -- but it is extremely unlikely. It is even less likely for us to get the second pick.
That site appears to give us no shot of picking ahead of the Browns.

I believe BTB had said that if we lose, the Browns beat Pittsburgh, and the Jets beat Buffalo, then we'd be picking ahead of the Browns. Playoffstatus.com says Cleveland can't pick any lower than 3rd.

I prefer a trade back if we draft a QB.
How high does Elliot go?
I would go DT in the top 5 if there was a guy like Aaron Donald coming out of the draft but I honestly dont follow College close enough to have a good opinion on DT's.

Only if it results in picking a solid player that helps the team. Making a selection in the top 5 that turns out to be a bust will set us back and add insult to injury.

exactly. and same is true for all rounds, and look who is doing the picking!
The draft will be interesting, but no sense speculating or saying who u want, I mean how often have they picked who u wanted?
Or who/what we needed?
Just like RB last year.

Trading back sounds great on paper. However, you need a trading partner at the slot you desire. Also you now risk losing the player (depending on how much you love him) as other team can pick him or jump in front of you to pick him. What's Wentz worth to you? How upset would you be if you lose him?

I apologize if you have covered this. If the #3 Chargers and #4 Cowboys both lose, what are the odds that we pass them in SOS? I do not know if the following will be enough to pass them in SOS, be here is what you root for:

1. Seahawks lose to Cardinals (Cowboys played Seahawks - We need Seahawks record worse)
2. Patriots lose to Dolphins (Cowboys played Patriots... both Chargers & Cowboys played Dolphins - We need Patriots record worse)
3. Packers lose to Vikings (Chargers played Vikings... both Chargers & Cowboys played Packers - We need Vikings record better as that strengthens Chargers SOS)
4. Texans lose to Jaguars (Chargers played Jaguars - We need Jaguars record better as that strengthens Chargers SOS)

#1 & #3 are reasonable chances... #2 & #4 are long-shots. Does not look promising to pass the Chargers, but this what you are rooting for (assuming Chargers do not pull the miracle upset of Denver and make this analysis moot.)

There's no QB or RB worth the top 5. They could lose Hardy,McClain, Claiborne, and hopefully they will cut Wilcox.

Blue chip defensive player #1 regardless of position.

Pretty sure there is on other teams draft boards. Maybe ours too.

That sites does say we have a shot of picking ahead of the Browns because we could get as high as the top pick, and the Browns could get as low as the fourth pick. (Note that when it says "0%," that's not 0.00 percent -- it's just rounded down. When there is no chance for that pick, the site uses the caret mark -- ^ .)

Heres what BTB wrote:

There's also a chance the Cowboys could move up to the second overall pick, but that would require a lot of things to fall the Cowboys' way.

  1. The Cowboys have to lose against the Commanders. That can be done, even if the Commanders bench Kirk Cousins and half their starting offense.
  2. The Chargers have to win in Denver. That's a tall order, but in a season of wacky outcomes, why not?
  3. The Browns have to beat the visiting Steelers. The Steelers lost against the Ravens, why not against the Browns as well?
  4. But even if all of that happens, the Cowboys would still have an opponent strength of Schedule (SOS) of .533, while the Browns would be at .531, and keep their spot ahead of the Cowboys, so the Cowboys need another game to go their way: The Jets have to win in Buffalo. If that happens, in addition to everything outlined above, the Cowboys' SOS would drop to .5328, while the Browns' SOS would climb to .5331.

Still i dont see how our SOS could drop below that of the titans.

I said trade back 10-15 spots and pick up our favorite QB and RB in the bottom half of the 1st. I know no RBs are worth a top 5 pick.

According to the recent past Draft visits and the current GM ramblings, Dallas would like to trade down for a WR in the Draft and sign a FA Vet. @ QB.

What confuses me is that currently the Browns SOS is .536 but if they beat the Steelers it'll drop to .531?
Strength of schedule combines the records of all your opponents, and any Cleveland win adds a loss to their opponents' combined record.

But I think BTB is wrong about the Browns' SOS being .536. If you base it on the full 16-game schedule (which they say they're doing), the Browns' SOS is 128-112 (.533). If you base it only on the 15 games each of the Browns' opponents has played so far, it's 119-106 (.529).
