The skins have nothing to play for. They know the beat the cowboys for the division and now they are going to stick it to us again by letting us win so we drop in the draft. They know that Cowboys pride is going to get in the way and we will win. Its blasphemy for me not to root for a cowboys win but I sure do want that high draft pick that could set up us for the next few years. Now, if only I could believe in the coaches will train them to become better players. Happy New Year Cowboyszone family!!!

So who's feeling good about Lynch or Cook in the top ten now?

Both looked awful in the bowls.

Barring Garrett botching it up (which is highly possible), I would stay in the top 5 and take Goeff............he is the most pro-ready QB in this draft and the other QBs have looked like dog crap.

Goff will go before Dallas picks. Then what?

It wouldn't make any sense to use a top 5 pick on a backup QB with all the needs the team has. It's going to be a tough sell for Jerry to use a top 5 pick on a player who'll never see the field until Romo is injured or his career is done. Jerry can't keep saying Romo has several years left and make a move like that. The Cowboys aren't a good football team they need to draft a player in the top 5 that can help the team immediately and be a cornerstone for years to come. With Romo still having possibly 2-3 good years left the team doesn't need the most pro ready QB in the draft they still have time to develop a QB as a backup and as a starter down the road.

Allow a team to move up who desperately needs a starting QB and pick up an extra 2 and a 3 and who knows maybe even a #1 next year if someone is that in love with Goeff. There's no guarantees he's going to pan out and a 4 win team needs a top 5 pick to be on the field helping them not standing around carrying a clipboard for several seasons. If it were me I would trade down and pick up an extra #2 and possibly another pick and take a QB later in the first round or use one of my #2's on a QB. With Romo coming back and with all the help the Cowboys need especially on defense that would be the smartest move.

I agree with this. The only problem I doubt any of the QB that will be drafted will bring a good enough ransom in picks to justify the move back. I think we will take a QB at some point in this draft, maybe early second or move back to the 1st to take one late depending on who is there. This could be a draft where we move down 2 or more times then make a selection late in the first for someone like Wentz. The good news, is that we don't need the draft pick to be ready to play QB right away. So I really don't see the need to use top 5 pick on one of these guys.

Let's hope our front office doesn't make decisions by just watching the bowl games, that how Derek Carr slipped to the 2nd rd.

I can see the Cowboys trading down more than once then taking a QB that would be a smart move because we have a QB we just need someone who can back him up successfully. If Jerry were to pull the trigger on a QB in the top 5-10 as soon as Romo has a bad game they'll be fans calling for the backup because many are going to want to see him play due to how high we took them. You simply can't take any player in the top 5-10 and sell them on your fanbase as a backup especially when you're a 4 win team that has several holes. If we stay in the top 5-10 we have to take the best player we can get who's going to play immediately then grab a QB in the second round. The teams that make the biggest mistake at QB desperately need one. They focus on all the good about that QB and hope they can fix the negatives that eventually cause that QB to fail at the next level. There's been drafts were the first 2 QBs taken went bust like David Carr and Joey Harrington and Jamarcus Russell and Brady Quinn. It's terrifying picking in the top 10 and desperately needing a QB because teams don't think rationally they're willing to take the chance on a QB because they don't have one.

Washington gave up the farm for RG3 at #2 overall in 2012 but ended up with a better QB in the 4th round. With all the scouting improvements that involve the most advanced technology teams continue to miss big on QBs. Drafting a QB is as big a roll of the dice today as it was 20+ years ago. Russell Wilson a 3rd round pick developed into a better QB than RG3 who was taken #2 overall and is starting to look better than Andrew Luck who was taken #1 overall in the same draft. Anytime you draft a player in the top 5-10 and they don't pan out especially a QB it cripples your franchise. Seattle built a great team by hitting big on players taken after the first round.

I would rather them focus on game tape then workouts and measurable's that's where teams have made the biggest mistake at QB. Jamarcus Russell had what Mike Manock called the greatest Pro Day by a QB he had ever seen and that helped suck the Raiders in. Lane Kiffin didn't want Russell but Al Davis did and publicly criticized Kiffin after he fired him for not wanting what Davis call "a great QB" in Russell. Cam Newton didn't have great workouts but the Panthers focused more on his game tape than his workouts. You also can't get caught up with the hype on a QB that's how Cleveland ended up with Manziel instead of Carr or Bridgewater.

Cleveland is a qb black hole. If Bridgewater was there, he'd probably be looking mediocre too. I prefer the higher pick simply because we can trade back if need be. If Goff isn't there, I trade back and consider either defense or even taking Ezekiel Elliott. There is this thing about not taking rbs high but rb was arguably our most important position last year. I don't want to waste this o-line by stuffing bargain projects back there and getting a decent run game. I want outstanding run game. The year our run game was fantastic was the one year we broke .500 and looked like superbowl contenders.

I agree on all counts. The probability of Goff being there at #3 is much higher than if we were drafting #8. Cleveland will somehow find a way to screw themselves. They always do. BUT, if they take Goff, that #3 (or 4) is huge in terms of value in trading down to stockpile low 1st high 2nd talent picks.

I don't think so.

pick 1 Tenn.........most mocks have them taking the OT from Ole Miss
pick 2 Clev..........most mocks have them taking Bosa from Ohio State
pick 3 San Diego.......seen several players mocked to them, but none are QBs since they just gave Rivers a new contract.
pick 4 Dallas............????

I think Goeff and Lynch will both be available at pick 4..........if not, then go Joquan, the WR from Ole Miss or Elliott, the RB from Ohio State.

Or we can trade down a couple of spots and pick up and extra 2nd round pick.................unless this is all for not and we drop to pick 8 with a win.
