Cowboys looking at teams for RB trade?

West would be awesome. Dominated lower level in college and played well in rookie year

Ok. You wouldn't do the trade. No problem. I would.

And if you think that Randle is even in the same ball park as Miller and Michael, then it's clear why you wouldn't do the trade. And for the record, I don't think Randle is in the same ballpark.

If you think Miller and Michael are in the same ballpark, why? What has he proven that Randle hasn't? Measurables are pretty to look at, but until he proves anything on the field, thats all it is. This is a classic grass is greener argument. Miller has a better track track record than either Michael or Randle and thats not debatable.

Lamar Miller WILL be Demarco Murray behind this line. There is NO doubt in my mind. He will probably be another guy we would let walk after one season which is the same thing for Leary so it pretty much cancels out.

Look at Miller's season last year, it looks a lot like Murray's 2013-2014 season before his breakout.

I don't think he is quite on Murray's level but he is way better than anything we currently have. I would be ok with Miller behind out line.

Only problem, Miller isn't coming to Dallas for anything less than a draft pick.

I think that's a pipe dream at this point.

DMAC is fragile; Randle is a bone head; Dunbar is not going to be able to do it and Mathews is a serious question mark. Really do not believe the so called brain trust is willing to go into the season with that bunch.

People are down on McFadden because he has posted crap numbers...........he is 2nd worst in YPC in the entire NFL over the last 3 seasons, just beating out Trent Richardson. And before people say "it was Oakland", please explain why his own teammates posted better numbers than he did. Also, McFadden may have the size, but he is not running over anybody. That is why his yards per carry is so anemic, he doesn't break tackles or run over anybody so he goes down at first contact.

These are just the facts..............as inconvenient as they may be to some.............why the hell do you think McFadden signed for 0 guaranteed money? When was the last time a free agent worth a dam signed a contract with 0 guaranteed money?

McFadden is what McFadden is and that is "a free look" as Spags has said numerous times................he is a street free agent with 0 guaranteed money.

Most fans don't consider that an acceptable replacement for the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year and current Rushing Champion.

Take away Murry's one big run, and look again.

I'm all for L. Miller. He's proven he can play in the NFL and handle a decent size workload. However, I think it's foolish for anyone to try and compare Randle OR Michael to Miller at this point which is what I was saying.

Also, Leary is NOT an unrestricted free agent after this year. He will be a restricted FA and a 2nd rd tender would be more than enough to keep him next year. So the Dolphins or whoever, get 2 years at around 2.3 million total. I can easily see the Dolphins accepting Leary for L. Miller straight up, IF they are trying to trade him.

I can see Ron Leary and a conditional 7th(could be high as 5th) for Montee Ball making sense for both sides.

Ball and McFadden would look really nice in the back field if you ask me.

I don't see the real benefit in getting any back up RB's from the teams mentioned.
Are any of them better than Joseph Randle?
I am not saying that Randle is that great. However, neither is any back riding the Dolphins, Saints, or Chiefs bench.

Knile Davis would be upgrade over Randle.

Guys. Miami is not going to trade their starter after the draft and so long into free agency. It doesn't matter what the status of his contract is. And they'd know better than we would if the guy is any good or not, anyway. If he is, they're not going to let him walk over a contract dispute until he's got enough wear and tear on him for that to make sense.

Anybody we add would be a backup RB with the potential to carry a heavier load or a vet that's shaking out of a relatively big contract.

Miami has never been real high on Miller, or at least the HC supposedly wasn't. That was the rumor floating around on twitter 2 seasons ago and last season they gave him the lead back status out of necessity. Going into the season, I don't think they planned on using him the way they did, but injuries forced their hand and he played well enough to keep playing. If they still aren't high on him I could possibly see a trade.

As far as any of these unproven guys being mentioned, or even some of the more expensive vets being floated I'm not giving up Leary for them. He's got way too much value as a b/u this season and could easily start at LG again next year if Collins is moved to RT and Free is released. I've stated it several times in this thread, but he is only a RFA so he has value beyond this year.

IMO a trade for a b/u with some potential is ideal, but only for a 5th. Gio Bernard has been mentioned, but I don't see that happening at all. I'd give up a 3rd for him if he was though. All in all I think the "our RBs suck crowd" are going to be disappointed. If anything happens its probably going to be competition for a late rd pick.

Millers situation in Miami has nothing to do w a contract dispute...that's where you went wrong

Yeah, I get all that and don't necessarily think it's insane to talk about him as a target, but he's still their starter. I could see them unload him if this were before the draft and he could be replaced in the roster better, but the flier they took on Ajayi is not going to pry him loose absent another bell-cow back on that roster. Not unless somebody just blows up for them in camp.

I could see that being the case. I think he's unlikely to be moved, but wouldn't be shocked if he was. I have my eye on D. Martin personally. He's a bounce back candidate and could probably be had for cheap. Overall I think any trade is less than likely and think any new RBs brought in will be camp competition at best if signed as a FA. I fully expect Randle to be the starter and DMC being the 3rd down back out of camp. I also fully expect to hear a lot of complaining from fans until the season starts and I'm not looking forward to it lol.

Martin is actually a very reasonable get. I have no idea what to make of him, but he'll be available, and the two organizations are on good terms, not that that matters all that much, but there's a connection there with Lovie. I just have no idea what to make of him.

Me either. I'm guessing it was a number of things. Bad OL, Bad QB play and I think the biggest was the injury. Its possible he wasn't fully healthy last year or confident in his knee yet. Either way, he's worth a flyer at least. He looked like a complete RB his rookie year and It would be worth it hoping he could regain some of that form.

I'd like K. Davis from KC for that role.

Granted I think we can convert Ronald Leary into the fridgerator behind this line and still get him over the 1k mark.

I really liked Doug Martin when he was in the draft. I remember telling my buddy that even though Dallas didn't really have a need for a RB, I would be ok with them picking him up in the second round.

Martin and maybe Tre Mason would be about the only two possibly available RB's that I would have much interest in.

Really liked both of them.

With Mason, the issue is that the Rams traded Stacey after the draft and so will probably want Mason to carry the load until Gurley is 100% ready.

Maybe Dallas could throw one of their RB's in with Leary to get St. Louis to let go of Mason.
