The owners are the ones paying it. Not sure why some around here are mad at players for saying, "okay."
Its because we have a little thing called a "Cap".

Now, I could care less about jerry's money. I do care our team has enough to put a quality product on the field. Who wants to end the playoffs one and out for going on 27 years?

Heck, I want to see one more Cowboy Superbowl before I go. My VHS tapes won't play anymore.

They could get higher than our projected 20-something draft pick elsewhere easy so we'd have to sweeten the pot.
Agree because they know putting Pitts on this offense most likely drives that pick down.

I do recall Booger salivating over Pitts when they did an interview Zoom with him before the draft. He could be as valuable as any WR in the league because he is a handful with the right QB.

I like him because he's 6'6" with a 6'2" QB.

Yes, but the managing the cap is as issue for the owner/GM to deal with, not the player. Whatever the owner/GM is willing to offer the player, it's up to him to determine how it fits with the team's cap situation.

An underrated player. Dude does exactly what the team asks him to do and at a fairly level multiple years in a row. Better than several TE's who received big contracts in the off season.
Absolutely agree.

However, you cannot afford to give this type player a huge salary. I'd love to keep him, but if he wants 15, bye.

We have plenty of pass catchers and Shultz does just fine. We dont need Pitts.

They blew a top 5 pick on a TE and I am sure they are regretting it, but I highly doubt they are going to admit their mistake this quickly.

Why would we make the same mistake they did? Our problem is Oline, not pass catchers.

Uh oh!!! Were one of the "draft Pitts" over Parsons guys?
Pitts was taken in the 21 draft at 4, after 3 QB's, and they didn't blow it picking him. Parsons was my pick all along in the 22 draft.

Pitts in the right offense is a matchup nightmare for the back 7 and can really open the playbook up.

Yep, they cannot afford that with what else they have on the books. The books, they need to be a changin'.

I am not in the room or know Schultz agent. But I can almost 100% guarantee you that David Njokus 4 year, $56 million dollar deal is the starting point and only going up. Njoku hasn’t had a season close to what Schultz had last season and just cashed in.
One team overpaying does not mean we should.

Gawdawmighty the NFL has gotten stupid.

I doubt he wanted $15MM/year. My guess is $12MM/year with a fair portion guaranteed would have done the trick.

Of course that's still not cheap, and every team has to set priorities and determine how to best manage the cap.

The cap is part of the collective bargaining agreement, so the players agreed to it

That the owners created so they could claim to not have enough money to pay the players.
Not even close. It's to save the league from idiot owners like Jerry and Al and Snyder from driving up the market to stupid levels.

C'mon now! Not true. it's was created to keep bigger markets from being bullies.

If jerry could buy a team we would be working on at least 10 time world campions.

What small market teams? The expansion teams that came about after the salary cap?

The owners are filthy rich dirtbags. Guess you already knew that's what I think!!!!!!!

No no ..... The billionaire owners are selfless and sweet and only thing about the good of the fans ...... It's the players who are greedy and want to ruin the NFL if not for those angelic owners.

God bless them everyone

Ok and whats he going to get? 1200 yards and 10 TD's? Thats typically what any top 20 WR will get you.

NO way do they trade him and they would want multiple first round picks, which I doubt he is worth.

I don't recall an angry uprising against the NFLPA, do you? I'm pretty confident the team reps aren't getting rich off it anyway.
