Honestly can’t find one reason to listen to Dez’s opinion on 2023-2024 cornerback contracts state of affairs.

I translate his comments as please give my friend what he wants fully guaranteed. He’s really good at CB and he’s my boy, at the moment.
I can't find one reason to listen to Dez, period. He's probably the dumbest player the Cowboys have ever drafted.

Too many players are looking for guaranteed deals these days. Just another headache owners are having to deal with.

If contracts are going to be all guaranteed than the total contract value should just be brought down to reflect that. Would an NFL player prefer a 100 million contract with 60% guaranteed or a 60 million contract with all of it guaranteed? I don't think you can have it both ways.

$$$ has been a factor for a long time for athletes, but in this era, it seems for most it has shifted to the single most important thing. Most people in life never sign a guaranteed contract with a company beyond a sign on bonus for meeting specific requirements. I get the risk of playing sports, but there are many professions that take on more risk for a fraction of am NFL player.

I have been an opponent of the NFL's current hard salary cap structure since day one 29 years ago. I can get behind your suggestions.
The “cap” agreement included a cap on rookies’ salaries. Veteran players are not likely to ever care about players who are not NFL players. Since the cap insures a degree of competitive parity, and that parity insures the league’s popularity, and that popularity leads to increased revenues, and by agreement with the players the cap increases as revenues increase, the players got something they wanted in deference to agreeing to the salary cap. So did the owners.

I see a lot of corporate boot lickers all over here. Then trying to compare your life to theirs. Newsflash, they trained and worked all their life to get the leverage they can. No, your desk job isn't the same and making those comparisons are ignorant.

Also, millionaires or not, these players have a very short window in a violent sport without guaranteed contracts to make the most money they can. I see so many side with these greedy billionaire owners who do absolutely nothing but cut checks. And they got to that position by exploiting constantly.

Owners expect players to take paycuts constantly and no one bats an eye. Second players want the most they can get, everyone gets up in arms.
And then I hear fans say use them up and spit them out. I don't blame the players one bit for trying to get as much money as they can. It's their bodies they put on the line. The owners don't have to pay them. That's their right but the players sure should use whatever leverage they have.

The stat which has been widely distributed is that runnngbacks peak at age 26-27. If rookie deals are from age 21-24 and second contracts go to age 25-28 then your assertion makes no sense.

Plus there is a difference between taking one side or another in a particular instance and making a classist distinction to define everything.
If my assertion is incorrect than you have beef with the talking heads at BSPN and Fox sports that have shown evidence of RBs declining during their 2nd contract

whats even funnier is that these same shills for the players show that graph and than turn right around and say “ just pay the man” and other immature catch phrases

Just to be clear, I personally don’t care what any player gets paid but I do understand that positions like RB can be done through “committee “ which lessens their value , unlike a Qb that stands alone.

I don’t have any skin in the game, I just understand that the pie is only so large

I find that individuals that can’t understand this concept are more apt to be the ones that don’t budget or plan financially beyond the next paycheck…..and that’s ok, it takes all kinds to make the world go round:)

Move on…dude is not worth a guaranteed contract.
exactly what i think. corners are not worth the big contracts to me. the game is geared towards the wide receivers. pay cee dee and the pass rushers on defense first. can always draft a corner in the first round and keep him for five years cheaper then signing diggs.

Good corners are worth the money…You can’t treat them like the RB position.

But if he thinks he’s going to get 100% guaranteed money, he can forget it. Actually we don’t knows if Diggs even thinks this way. It was Dez Bryant who said that. He is obviously not that bright. Does he think he’s Diggs’ agent?

Get your bag Diggs, nothing good ever comes from helping any team out. Soon as they don't need you they'll discard you, get your bag. Fans will complain regardless if you take a team friendly deal, look at how they act with Tyron Smith. Get that bag!

Yup. I have to say though- Diggs benefits greatly from the front end of the Dallas defense. With Parsons and company, opposing QB's face a lot of heat. Diggs wouldn't have near the interceptions on a team with an average pass rush. Diggs is good at picking off passes though. Dallas's defense has struggled to get interceptions until recently. Diggs is very good, but a long "elite money" contract is scary.

This isn't baseball with no salary cap. So unless you can guarantee availability and play at a high level why should the contract be guaranteed? Teams wouldn't have an issue paying people if they all lived up to the contract expectations but thats not the case.
