Cowboys privately worked out QB Brett Hundley

I wouldn't mind a Brett Hundley or Bryce Pettyif they were available in the 4th round or lower. It would be great to have a QB in place when that day comes.

I seriously doubt either lasts until the fourth. I expect both to be gone in the second. At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if the Cowboys used a second rounder on a QB.

Shocked no, disappointed yes. This is one of the worst drafts in years at the position. Taking one because you feel compelled to do so is simply the tail wagging the dog.

Look, I want Romo's heir here now as bad as anyone. The Cowboys, if they take one early, are taking an ***-backwards method of ensuring that gets done.

they should have drafted Garrapolo last year when they had the chance,he is better than every QB this year except Winston.

That "chance" went away when they pulled the trigger to trade up for Lawrence.

Not sure if you mean "groomer" as in the prospect or who we would have working with them.

With the number of mechanical and technical flaws with Hundley, I would be hesitant to pair him with Wade Wilson, who I have very little confidence in.

Groomer is probably the wrong word. I like the idea of bringing in a mid to top tier talent as the eventual successor to Captian Romo.

I would take a long list of QBs over Hundley. He handles pressure as bad as any QB that I have seen. It not only effects him on the one play, but the pressure alters his whole game after a hit. He will bust in the NFL and he would be a wasted pick even in the late rounds.

One of the earliest rumors of draft season was the Cowboys really liked Hundley and wanted him to learn behind Romo. I am not saying this guy ever amounts to anything but his line at UCLA was awful. I have a feeling he slides a long way on draft day.

While this is true, it's also rare that a team could land the number 3 qb prospect in the late second. I've liked Hundley for a while -- nice size, NFL arm, crazy high athleticism, throws a beautiful sidelines ball, etc. I understand his flaws, but it would be hard not to be excited about the possibilities.

When one of your players is heading to the draft and the media asks how you think that player will do and the HC says...he is not ready for the NFL...that is a pretty damning statement IMO.

That would indicate to me that the coach might think he will never be ready IMO.

Or the coach is a bitter because maybe he thought he could talk Hundley into coming back and helping UCLA win next year. Hundley technically has another year of eligibility at UCLA. He redshirted in 2011.

Mora is a total idiot and a scumball. So I wouldn't put it past him.

No...watch him play...It is pretty obvious he is not ready. Mora might be an idiot and a scumball but I think in this specific thing he is being something that we don't hear much about from Coaches...being honest.

I wouldn't trust Mora to give a fair and honest assessment at all................. most coaches would just clam up and not saying anything unless they have something nice to say. Mora is a special kind of ****** that would absolutely talk a player down in order to try to get him to stay in college or be bitter if a kid left him.

Note, I am in no way claiming we shuold take Hundley. Not a fan. But I don't believe anything that comes from that fraud Mora's mouth.

I seen Hundley play...I agree with Mora.

Kid is not ready.

Pete Carroll said it about Sanchez. Looks like he knew what he was talking about.

I agree with this. It does no good for Mora to torpedo Hunley. That kind of thing follows you and it makes it harder to recruit down the line. I think Mora is trying to give Hunley good advice. Mora was a pretty good Coordinator in the NFL. He understands how it works.

Hundley doesn't read the field well, and for a guy as mobile as he is, he takes an awful lot of sacks. He has a lot of physical talent, but doesn't have a strong enough knowledge base within the offense to execute it as well as he can. He will require a lot of work.

Overreaction much?
Why do people/writers automatically assume if we bring a prospect, we plan to draft him or draft him in the first three rounds?
Maybe Huntley will be available in the fifth, sixth or seventh round. If we pick him then, what's the harm?
He sits as the third quarterback. He learns. He matures. He's maybe ready in three years.
He's not going to be picked in the first or second round and maybe not even in the third. He has much to learn. And if we pick him in the fifth, and he doesn't pan out, so what?

Chillax.

I'll take Mora and his NFL experience on this one.

Yeah, it's kind of like anticipating Christmas. This is the first time in a while I'm this interested in the draft. I'm always interested, but I think we can really do damage this year so who we pick is important.
