Cowboys RBs

I really don't get the commitment of everyone keeping McFadden. He is the oldest running back on the roster, he has had some injury history, he has 1 year left on his deal, he would save 2 million if we cut him. I just don't think we need him when we have Morris who never gets hurt and is a better fit in a zone blocking running scheme. I think Dallas is keeping him until week 1 in case someone gets significantly hurt, I've even heard some talk about putting him on the PUP to start the season as extra insurance. But to me it is Zeke, Morris, Jackson, and Dunbar.

I thought that too.. I'm going to wait until next week but I want to see more from him.

he showed some wiggle, his blocking was awful though as expected from the 3rd string OL,he was constantly hit in the backfield but still get some positive yards.

His salary cap is nothing compared to what he brings for his depth and insurance at the RB position. So what if he has one year left on his contract. It doesn't mean that is a reason to let him go. We can get a comp pick next year that way. We have around 18 players right now on their last year of a contract.
So he is the oldest RB at age 28 or 29....not sure what that has to do with it. He can still play at that age.

Injury prone, he has had 2 healthy seasons in a row now. Can people just drop the othey stuff, and they were not major injuries either. Time to move on from that crap. Heck, tony has had many injuries too. Is he considered injury prone? What does he count against the cap this year at age 36?

I heard nothing about the PUP list. Where did this come from?

The zone vs man blocking schemes and his running in them is a myth and has become a CZ urban legend. This has been debunked.

Zeke, McFadden, Morris, and if a 4th is kept, Jackson. But he needs to show why he should be kept. Dunbar to start out on PUP.

I don't really have anything McFadden, I just think the RB depth is pushing him out. He's not getting Dallas any comp pick greater than a 7th, no one will sign him for more than 2 million. If Dunbar starts out at PUP, then I'm okay with keeping him. I just don't want to cut Jackson to keep McFadden.

McFadden is going to be on the 53.
It's amazing to me that most of you want him out of here.

Jackson hasn't proven he is better, and it is not his fandom based perceived potential. Do you really want romo's health, as well as this season left to a 6th round draft pick with a lot to learn, or a seasoned proven RB that CAN pass protect as well as run and catch.

And if we get a 7th for McFadden, then that is just an extra pick to draft another Darius Jackson...a player with a learning curve.

Without McFadden we have reduced the RB depth.

The most reasonable post so far.

What did you think of Morris and Jackson tonight?

I really like how Morris looks in our system.

Elliot needs to get on the field. If he is a lot better than Morris then our offense could be something else.

I thought Morris' first run (IIRC) of the game was his best; tough and hard-fought, pushing the crease for 9-yards.

I've tried to tell people this offseason, McFadden ran for 4.6 YPC last season without the benefit of having any semblance of a competent NFL QB to keep the defenses honest. IMO, people aren't giving McFadden enough credit.

And again, beyond Elliott (presumably), DMac is the most complete back on the roster.

Nate Newton, is that you?

I don't think Jackson has proven he is better, but I do think he has proven he has more potential. And yes Jackson does need to work on pass protection as most rookies do, but Morris will be the guy to be doing that if Elliot gets hurt. I just don't think you get rid of a young and talented running back who is cheap for 4 years for 1 year of a 2nd or possibly even 3rd string running back. McFadden deserves a spot on a NFL roster, I'm just not sure if Dallas is the spot for him if the running backs are healthy.

We might be the deepest team in the league at that spot, which can only be good for attaining our goal of keeping Romo healthy.

Tennessee, too.

Demarco Murray
Derrick Henry
Dexter McCluster

I would just do McFadden a favor and cut him now. He had a great attitude last year but we have Jackson and zeke . We don't need 2 veterans plus Dunbar.
I agree 100%. This will have other vets more likely to come here if we treat them well. At least that is my thought process.

He is a straight line back to me. I dont think he is going to make alot of people miss. He is a poor mans Karlos Williams to me right now

He's a poor man's Herschel Walker. How fitting that he's wearing No. 34.

Henry looked dangerous in his preseason game.

I hope Zeke is better than this monster.

Zeke is an all-around back. Henry is a one-trick pony right now, but he'll be good if he watches his weight.
