Cowboys release TO *Merged*

to put a rumor to rest:

The Cowboys were 14, 15 million dollars under the cap 2 hours ago and that has NOT change, 'cept for a less than a million dollars.

We did NOT take a 10 million dollars hit. Our cap figure hasn't changed much, and this will NOT affect any plans that the Cowboys had when it came to FA and money under the cap.

It's an issue of replacement cost. Like a sixth of our yards or something.

I bet we are going to run the ball alot more this year. I guarantee you we are going to be known as a running team.

Sorry 5countem5 and Bleu :lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

Until Jason Garrett forgets about the plan and accidentally leaves all the running backs on the bench all day.

I don't have time to read the whole thread, so has there been any confirmation of this other than "ESPN sources say?" No official statement from the team or anything?

Any chance this is a falsehood used to weed out some moles in the orginization?

More likely, it's all a tease for his new reality show.

Imagine the ratings when in the first episode he announces he's back with the Cowboys -- rap song and all.

TO's salary was too big for anyone to give even a 7th rounder for him. Someone will pick him up, but for a dirt-cheap price.

Anyone else not going to sleep tonight?:

jason garrett didnt want to insert slant routes in his offense. thats the main reason TO was cut. :)

I'll say this. T.O. might not have been the problem, but he definitely wasn't the solution either.

We weren't making the Super Bowl with his distractions regardless of his production (or at times- lack thereof).

I wish T.O. well and won't be looking forward to seeing him again in an opposing uniform, but I think this is for the best in totality.

There has been no confirmation from the team. Only ESPN is reporting it.

What you think we have less?

As in a WR? Yes!

I like Crayton, and Roy.

I don't trust Austin to stay healthy, and I really don't trust the other WR's and that Offensive Coordinator.

It will not shock me if T.O. goes to the Patriots.

I love me some me.

Great move and it makes the trade for Williams make even more sense.

Jason Garrett is a young OC. I will give him this year to see if he improves.

This is a great point.

Bottom line is we were 0-2 in the playoffs with Owens, had two of the worst collapses in franchise history and only went 9-7 last season.

Now of course, Jerry Jones, Wade Phillips, Tony Romo, etc., were all key players in those seasons as well (minus the Seattle playoff loss for Phillips). So we can't yet know if T.O. is the reason we weren't hitting the next level, or if he was perhaps one of the reasons we were as good as we were.

I will get hammered for this, but I honestly believe that TO was responsible for most of Romo's success. I think Tony may be exposed as a mediocre QB without TO. Lord knows Roy Williams isn't picking up any slack that TO is leaving.

Oh well, bring on the three headed monster of Choice, Barber, and Jones.

I remember the last time we featured slant routes heavily in a game for Owens. He dropped a few, including one that was intercepted, and then he caught one, but had it ripped out of his hands for a fumble as he was headed to the turf.

So, there went that experiment.

So then, as of now, there's nothing to see here. Got it.

Edit: Actually on foxsports.com they say "Cowboys sources told Fox Sports."

doubt it.

Very interesting day in Cowboys history.

We'll find that out shortly.

No, I don't mean FA market, I mean the trading market. No team would be willing to give up a draft pick for T.O. Not with his baggage. Also Jerrah, probably, wouldn't do that to him. He'd rather cut T.O and let him go where ever he wants.

As a FA, however, there should be " some " interest. My first choice as to whom is going to contact him is Denver. Josh McDaniels already has enough experience with high profile wide receivers ( Randy Moss ), and Brandon Marshall might be suspended after getting arrested once again.

I'm a HUGE Romo fan -- but I worry the same. Maybe I'm just a worry wort. Hopefully so.
