Let's go all in and add the hefty lefty....saddle up and ride.

He's actually gotten a bit bigger since then. This was from 2014:

The first part yes but acquiring McCoy they won't trade him to us, our chance to get him was this offseason.

why do folks think a division rival would trade a player to us to make us better?

Anyway.... Flynn is a decent option. He doesn't have all the tools, but if he did, he wouldn't be on the street.

Except he's not as good as Flynn.

Ponder has been a fraud since he shot his shoulder out towards the end of his sr season at fsu and had to be replaced in the bowl game after throwing a sure td in the dirt..... I never got what the vikes saw in him....

yeah but he could still play, he has those flex things on his arms and legs, and in the commercial he is lifting bales of hay, and threw
a perfect pass to his dog !! So he is ready to go! give him a call.

ok it was "copper fit" not flex lol

Ponder never looked like NFL starting material. Limited with no upside. Not an upgrade on Weeden.

Flynn has shown he can play at starting QB level and some flashes of brilliance. Problem is doing it consistently over a long period of time.

Flynn playing inconsistently is similar in standard to Ponder playing well. But with Flynn you may get brilliance.

No brainer - if Flynn is in shape he gets signed.

Weeden will start until the bye week. If they bring in a vet now, he'll be ready to start after the bye week. If Weeden plays poorly he'll be replaced at the bye.

This is also an opportunity to seek what Weeden can do and if hes worth bringing back next year.

Idk lol they need to scratch Rg3 and McCoy, would I want them maybe but Snyder won't want Rg to always haunt him down lol or know that he gave us some help by sending McCoy. Crazier things have happened by this one is out of the books.

What great options! I would probably just go with go with Moore as the back-up unless they are concerned with Weeden being the starter while Romo is out. Man, that all just felt bad when I typed it.

why do so many people trust Flynn and Ponder over Weeden?
Grass is always greener?
None of them are good. But Weeden has been here, learning the offense, and working with the guys. Weeden is who we'll roll with, and we should.

Flynn is a decent pickup. Looking through his game logs, in the games he started he was hot and cold, but even in his poor games he never threw more than one pick. He was also won close games in consecutive weeks against ATL and Dallas. Weeden is obviously the starter in the immediate future, but if he has a meltdown I'd have more confidence in Flynn than the other options.

Ponder is the guy I would sign. I think Linehan could put together a nice package of plays for Ponder with his mobility like a lot of naked bootlegs and stuff. Ponder is good at making plays outside of the pocket if things break down especially on 3rd downs. Ponder is a serious threat to run so that would give defenses something to think about in trying to defend our offense. I don't want another statue in the pocket like Flynn if Weeden goes down.

I know from watch both play that Ponder sucks just a little less than Weeden

Great, so you know more than the Cowboys coaching staff?
You've seen them play in comparable situations, and on comparable teams?
You should get a job in the front office!

Ponder was a QB that IMO could of had a better career if he rode the bench and had a good QB coach.

I'm for signing him or Flynn.

IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys will work out four veteran quarterbacks on Tuesday, as they consider their options while Tony Romo is missing with a broken clavicle.

With Romo expected to miss eight weeks while he recovers, the Cowboys will take a look at four veterans in Christian Ponder, Matt Flynn, Josh Johnson and McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

Of those names, the duo of Flynn and Ponder are the more well-known. Ponder, a Dallas-area prospect, was the No. 12 overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2011 NFL Draft. He started 36 games for the Vikings between 2011 and 2014, completing 59.8 percent of his passes for 6,650 total yards.
