Cowboys should cut Escobar

Swaim offers basically the same thing and I think it's unnecessary to carry 4 TE's.

Traylor has been great at blocking and Swaim hasn't really broke out but all indications are that he can do what Escobar does in the pass game.


So why hold on to Escobar? Because we foolishly invested a 2nd? Just move on.

He's coming off of a big injury.

I just don't see what he offers us anymore.

We're kinda just waiting around for Hanna to get healthy anyways.

What does he offer that the guys on our roster already don't?


I always thought he would at least turn into a big WR/Redzone target for us but we never do anything with him. He's just a waste here.

I'd be okay with that for sure....they have both collected money for almost nothing.

I'd think that you could go lighter at another position to justify keeping the four TE's. Like no fullback or keep only three safeties and put Frazier on the practice squad for emergency.

And I'm saying that as a guy who's always felt Escobar was a mistake.

@Chuck 54 and @CATCH17, my commentary is more geared toward Dallas' premium picks outside of the 1st round not being good players for Dallas. Those picks should be solid starters...or at least you hope so. That's how good teams are built.

I think Escobar, like Fasano and Bennett before him, will be a starter in this League for several years. The staff has failed him as much as he has failed to be a better inline blocker. Wilcox seems to be more of the front office missing on the projection that a small school converted safety would be good.

Jordan Cameron has been a bust there, and hell they got decent production from Fasano in the past.

Honestly.......I would do as OP suggested. I think Swaim is more athletic, quicker and Traylor is a road grader for a TE, IMO.

I don't know if they should or shouldn't but jeri's philosophy seems to be: overpay and never let go until that well is drier than a desert riverbed.

So I suspect he'll play out his rookie contract

Back in his oil days, jeri must have quit on a well too early that later turned into a gusher for someone else and it scarred him for life

Because escobar is a good player and his blocking improved in the summer.

Why cut a good young player you have under contract for two years at a cheap price? Because the internet thinks he stinks?

it makes no sense what your proposing and has less than zero percent chance of happening. He will be the starter opposite witten.

We'll PUP Hanna, and Traylor's spot comes down to whether or not he can beat out the fullback. If not, he goes to the practice squad and we elevate him next season when Escobar is gone.

Escobar's had a good camp by every report I've read. We're not cutting him.

I keep him despite how inconsistent/injured he's been.
