Talk about being short sighted....This is probably Wittens last year. And you want to dump his replacement....In order to try and find Witten's replacement next year? Talk about burning premium picks:lmao:

Copy that! Also Escobar's a huge target that can pull the ball down in the end zone, you guys remember the guy named tony Gonzales that played for Kansas city?,,, ya, we 'cut' that dude also.
What are you talking about?

Don't beat me up too much for this, but why not trade Escobar to the Lions for quarterback Dan Orlovsky?

Detroit needs a tight end with Eric Ebron and Brandon Pettigrew beat up. Orlovsky is an ideal backup for Dallas- he dates back to Scott Linehan's time in Detroit and would know the offense well.

lol, no we didn't. we wanted to draft him, but KC took him in round 1 before we had a chance.

Gonzales was a 1st round pick of KC.

I think you are confusing him with OG Brian Waters.

Swaim offers basically the same thing and I think it's unnecessary to carry 4 TE's.

Traylor has been great at blocking and Swaim hasn't really broke out but all indications are that he can do what Escobar does in the pass game.

So why hold on to Escobar? Because we foolishly invested a 2nd? Just move on.

Why cut him only to draft another 2nd round te next year? Just like the tes before him his lack of contributions isnt his fault and he very well could go on to become a quality starting te. He has size and athleticism, he just needs opportunities on the field.

Interesting. Most potential trading partners will wait and see what players get cut. Orlovsky could be a suitable short term guy. Its not a bad thought.

The cowboy's had him in training camp way back and bounced him where he landed in Kansas city.
For the record, I remember watching 'Dandy Don Meredith' quarter back the cowboys every other play splitting each snap with Roger Staubach,,er,ah,, my credentials are impeccable ,my demeanor not so much

Saw a mock that had Dallas drafting OJ Howard. You know what? That would NOT piss me off.

You must be old; you're memory is fading. :) Craig Morton rotated every play with Roger for one game.

I'd say keep him. That way we the FO won't have the urge to use their 2nd rounder next year on another wasted pick on a TE.

Keeping him would at least remind the FO how silly they were to pick Escobar without using him. Hopefully.....they would have learned their lesson.

Keep him or Swaim but not both after Hanna returns. Put Traylor on the PS.

Gavin was the second best pass catching TE in that draft aside from Eifert. Ertz was more complete but he didn't high point like Gavin did.

He wasn't ever the best blocker, but the fact he came back from a torn achilles in like 7-8 months, and actually looked better than he did before, tells me all i need to know about that dude.

He needs a bigger role.
