Escobar made absolutely no attempt to block the man right in front of him on the play that Showers fumbled late in the game. Literally no attempt at all. Why not replace him with a wide receiver. Even wide receivers are better blockers than what he did on that play. SMH

You must be old; you're memory is fading. :) Craig Morton rotated every play with Roger for one game.
Yes, I'm getting pretty faded right now!
I stand corrected, and I still remember Don Meredith as quarterback with Walt Garrison as the running back.
Are you sure it was only one game? Cuz' I remember watching it and the sports announcers were befuddled confused and kinda cracking wise about tom Landrys unorthodox Style

On to something completely different:
I was sitting in a sports bar in Boise watching the the cowboys/sea hawks preseason game last week when Romo went down, I telling anybody who cared to listen that look like an extra measure of vindictiveness was meted out by that defensive player when he grabbed him by the shoulder pads, one dude on my right flank totally agreed, later on when Zeke done that 'flutter' step(and I was pretty much in the bag by then) I said" Who does that remind you of ?" Mr. Right flank said: Tony Dorsett!,, I'm like, ya,, your right,, so we get to talking and come to find out Mr.right flanks name is Jim boudin/bowdine(he told me it has an "I" in the name) he was a sports announcer and had Roger Staubach up in the booth with him calling games after roger retired, said he called Michael Jordan's rookie game, also.
And, that cat bought me a beer.

Tony Gonzalez was drafted in the first round by the Chiefs and was never in a Cowboys training camp.

Yea, when Novacek retired, Jerry and Aikman flew to California to a high school to work out Gonzales. That is as close he ever became associated with the Cowboys.

This has to be the source that my steel trap like mind had latched onto! Cuz I was pretty certain we worked him out and passed on him.

(Tough crowd I'm playing with here,,,SHEESE)

They flew out there under the guise of the Pebble Beach Pro am, Troy basically played catch with him.

I never understood the draft pick in the first place and was loudly critical here of the selection.

Can he separate with speed or quickness? Not at all
Can he block like a bulldozer? Hardly
Is he powerful guy who will stack up YAC? No

He had great hands and is kinda tall. That's about it. Not nearly enough skill-set for a second round pick. He was 5th, 6th round kind of talent. Just more Jerry Jones stupidity.

I'm right there with you. I was just a wee lad but I still remember the confusion and disbelief from the announcers. Coach Landry sent in the next play by alternating Morton and Staubach. Roger was the starting QB the next game.

Complete waste...
He was a wasted draft pick to hegin with. Garret was not going to run the Patriots offense, so the two TE set was a waste.. Escobar has talent, but it is not going to be useful in Dallas.

Thing is... I believe Dallas needs a TE with Escobars supposed skill set.

We need a big fast guy that can stretch the middle of the field and be tough to handle in the redzone.

Witten no longer stretches the field but he still eats up all of the short stuff.

Talk about being short sighted....This is probably Wittens last year. And you want to dump his replacement....In order to try and find Witten's replacement next year? Talk about burning premium picks:lmao:

I want to move Kellen Moore to TE.
