Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign Cobb

No. He plays zone when asked to, which isn’t much, due to our scheme.

Uh... Hopkins doesn’t win with speed, and Jones played him well. Great offense will always beat great defense. That’s why Jerry Rice always “owned” Dion. Nobody in the league can cover Hopkins for extended stretches without getting burnt.

Jones can absolutely turn and run. I’m beginning to wonder if we’re talkinng about the same guy. His hips and fluidity are a big part of what makes him great. (And funny it was speed first, then changed to his ability to turn and run. I wonder what’s next. Is he too short?)

A good zone CB? You realize that zone corners play the ball and rely on instincts? Whereas man corners play the man? If you want to nitpick, you should be questioning his ability to play zone, not man.

Oof.

And then the New Orleans game happened, and the Cowboys devised a plan to lock down the vaunted Saints’ offense, holding them to just 10 points and frustrating Drew Brees and Michael Thomas. Jones almost assuredly locked in his Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro nominations in that game with his performance.

But after that, things have hardly been the same.

After not giving up a touchdown all season, Jones has given up three in his last six outings. After giving up just 24 receptions through the first 13 games, according to Pro Football Focus, Jones has given up 18 in the last five.

This is a good signing. Good veteran leadership in the WR group. He is cagey and has good yards after catch if healthy. Buys Wilson or a drafted slot a year to develop.

It's funny how some Witten fans here are calling Cobb "slow". Lol

Since there no response ill tell you exactly what happened.

Teams knew he was sitting back on routes because he does have great speed running in a line. So they as they saw him sitting back, they started getting him on hook routes that left him flat footed. After a few of these they started getting him on them seam and 9routes because that hook route was in his head.

Teams knew he doesnt have the ball skills to jump routes. So they used that against him on routes they knew were easy to get on him. He never adjusted because he just couldnt. Can he work on that this offseason, yes but it remains to be seen if he can put that into the game.

It's a little concerning that 1 year at 5 million is the best he could do

That does send up a red flag or two. It is not like he can have a big year and turn it into the big contract a lot of players think they will get.

Maybe he is a rare player that actually has a brain and can handle his money, who knows.

I guess we will hear some comments about his motivation in the next few days.

Seriously????

I bet I can name 10 guys you could get on day 3 of the draft that would have given you the same production....

Here we go...

1. Mecole Hardman WR/KR Georgia
2. Stanley Morgan Jr Nebraska
3. Emanuel Hall WR Missouri
4. Dredrick Snelson WR UCF
5. Jovon Durante WR Florida Atlantic
6. Greg Dortch WR/KR Wake Forest
7. Terry Mclaurin WR Ohio St.
8. Tyron Johnson WR Oklahoma St.
9. Hunter Renfrow WR Clemson
10. Terry Godwin WR/KR Georgia

This signing does not prevent Dallas from drafting any of those players. If they do and the Cowboys like what they see, they can cut Cobb in the pre-season. It is a decent signing. Not a tremendous amount of money and it doesn't trap them long term if he doesn't work out.

I remember the days of huddling around my fax machine waiting for my Cowboys Insider to arrive.

I used to have to manually count my likes back then.

You just brought back memories of my Friday mornings in the mid 90’s

Pretty big downgrade from Beasley

Hasn't been good in about 4 years.

And that's playing with A Rod

I shutter to think what the #s are gonna look like with Dak

Could have done a lot better for $5 million

Why is his 600+ yards and 4 TDs a big downgrade from Beasley’s 600+ yards and 4 TDs?

So despite the drop off, over 18 games he averaged 2 1/3 receptions and .16 TDS against per game.
