You get what you pay for but, when you're broke you buy velvetta instead of longhorn cheddar.
You bring up an even bigger issue, overpaying good players with elite paychecks. None of these big contracts have panned out ‘ with the exception of Z. Martin, because the talent was overrated to start with. Their is no way that elite pay makes players elite on the field.

Everyone complaining meanwhile I’m happy we’re at least throwing resources at DL
yes, but are we throwing the resources at the right people? Urban might be a steal if he stays healthy. Hes a blue collar guy..so I like that. I dont like that hes almost 30 and been banged up.

I can live with him not rushing the passer well. I much rather clog the run lanes and not allow the Qb to step up into an empty pocket every pass

Agreed. He's not the best at pass rush, but that's what Gallimore, DLaw, Gregory, and a drafted DE would be for. In fact, all we'd really need Urban and a 1T DT to do on pass rush is to just push the pocket to keep the QB from stepping up. That I think Urban can do.

I like the Urban signing. In Quinn's defense he needs a 4Tech, and Urban is a great option at that spot. Finally, a run stopper. Now go get a NT to anchor this DL, and then we working with something.
Amen, bro. If the Cowboys can luckily get true 1-tech DT Alim McNeil with their 44th overall pick, our D-line will be much improved.

#29 Alim McNeil

The best part of these two DT signings is it likely means the end of Crawford, who I couldn't stand with a passion.

Exactly what I was thinking, but its very difficult to count on getting a specific player in the draft.

I mean....Im sure there's others that could fit the bill, but still.

I'm much more worried about centerfield anyway.

Far less options there.

Exactly, all these jags they sign are just either rotational or the dreaded "depth" guy. In other words, he has a pulse and all his extremities. Great going Jones' clan. What could we do without you.? Come to think of it, we could do better.
Yup, kill the "Hotboys" nickname, now the D will be known as "Jerrys' Jags"

Would it really have killed them to sign Tomlinson...

The warm body strategy. Both Watkins and Urban were 4th round picks and career backups, you never know, sometimes a player finds the right situation.

Watkins was a warm body. Urban, I think, is possible starting caliber. It just so happens that we have Gallimore who would be the starter at the spot we have for Urban. I think the two of them would rotate.

Your speaking my language McNeil is my guy. Yes, take him at 44. That's why I'd like them to fix the Safety position to free up Alim in the 2nd.

Agreed. If we trade back, get Moehrig and Alim at 44. If we don't trade back, get Farley, Alim, and Grant with the first 3 picks. Either scenario gives us a much better defence. I think our next FA move should be LB in case we can't get a trade back.

Told ya lol

You did! He's massive, and I love what I see against the run from him. He's not too shabby at pass rush either for a guy his size!! Good find! Yes, I'd be happy with either him or Tufele at 44. 2 good options!!
