Ten must-watch players at Seahawks training camp

Posted on July 16, 2014 | By Stephen Cohen

Korey Toomer

Linebacker | Third season | Idaho

2013 regular season/playoff stats: N/A

Why he's a must-watch: Toomer was singled out by head coach Pete Carroll as the "hottest guy in camp" during OTAs, and it wasn't hard to see why. The 6-foot-2, 234 pound linebacker was all over the field, displaying the natural athleticism coaches have lauded since they selected him in the fifth round of the 2012 draft. After sitting out the last two seasons on injured reserve, Toomer has had an opportunity to learn the Hawks' defense. Now it's his chance to prove his talent and maturity on the field.

Him and Lee will become good friends with all the side-line time they will have together.

Hopefully he can stay healthy and add some competition to our sad LB core.

Hasn't played due to injury in two seasons.

I think we found our new Matt Johnson!

This move is just like another team signing Johnson. Hyped by the coaches in OTAs but always hurt when the pads come on. Wore out his chances with his original team but worthy of a clean slate somewhere else. I don't know what type of injuries he had but hopefully they were just fluke things that he will overcome because everyone says he is a freak athlete with tons of potential and could really help.

I love draft focused people...and there are some good ones here on site.

Yea, I'm pretty much zeroed in on the draft all year. I think it's the hope that the draft represents because thats all we Cowboys fans have these days.

I don't understand this tweet. Why is the "but" in there?

I think it means Seahawks waived him, didn't get picked up by anyone to be on 53 man roster. Seahawks could have signed him to practice squad at that point as he cleared waivers, but ended up signing with the Boys instead. Was not claimed on waivers.

I like it, they really need the kind of Nickel LB they were hoping the 7th rounder Will Smith would be (and might be). Cam Lawrence is a good St guys but they really need a coverage guy at LB in the Nickel.

He was expecting the Seahawks to sign him to PS. You would think if the Cowboys would want him they would've claimed him, not let him go through waivers

Usually if you want a guy on your 53 who was cut by another team you pick up his waiver claim.

The Cowboys didn't do that and signed him directly to the 53.
