This might be a case where the player reached out to the org. Quick research and we decide yeah, let's give him a look.

Ten must-watch players at Seahawks training camp

Korey Toomer

Linebacker | Third season | Idaho

2013 regular season/playoff stats: N/A

Why he's a must-watch: Toomer was singled out by head coach Pete Carroll as the "hottest guy in camp" during OTAs, and it wasn't hard to see why. The 6-foot-2, 234 pound linebacker was all over the field, displaying the natural athleticism coaches have lauded since they selected him in the fifth round of the 2012 draft. After sitting out the last two seasons on injured reserve

Matt Johnson 2.0 NOT a good pickup.

Unless I missed something they don't need to release anyone. DeMarcus Lawrence went to IR return and they cut OT Wetzel. Picked up OG Hawkins and LB Toomer.

I believe you are correct sir.

Never get too worked up about these roster spots. These guys are likely long gone by week 5, when injuries pile and we're searching the market for misc role players

IRVING, Texas -- Linebacker Korey Toomer will sign with the Dallas Cowboys after he cleared waivers.

The Cowboys have to cut a player to make room for Toomer on the roster before the move becomes official.

The 6-foot-2, 234-pound Toomer, a fifth-round pick in 2012, was one of the Seattle Seahawks' final cuts. He has yet to play in an NFL regular-season game, getting put on the practice squad in 2012 before going on injured reserve and spending last season on the non-football injury list.

Toomer had impressive measurables coming out of Idaho. He was timed at 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash at his pro day, where he had a 10-foot-10 broad jump and a 42-inch vertical leap.

Here is a signing I'm actually intrigued by.

I remember Pete Carroll talking him up big time in the off-season. At the very least, this is a great signing Madden wise.

Is it the Practice Squad because I just read he was signed to the 53

I don't think it's allowed to sign a player off another teams PS and place him on our PS. Players taken from another teams PS have to be signed to our 53. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This guy has some talent. I watched the last preseason game where he got 41 snaps and played almost all ST. He's fast, surprisingly strong. Caused a fumble, was in on some tackles, made a couple tackles. He's best covering TE and RB out of the backfield. He pretty much shut down anyone who ran a route. He looked like he knew what he was doing (few mental mistakes). Better against the pass than the run. Def a weakside LBer, could be the nickel guy sooner than later.

Interestingly, they rushed him a decent amount, even from a Weakside end position. He caused some pressure. Even rushed as a DT one time and got in on the play. I'm impressed

You're 100% right.

This team continues to gamble by picking up athletic injury prone players hoping they'll shed the injury bug. The only problems is it has never worked.
