Nolan Carrol is a solid corner. He never fit th Eagles scheme from day one. He's miscast because of his size. He's a read and react guy, not a guy you leave on an island. This signing makes me wonder if Marinelli is looking to go back to more zone.

He will be a solid player for us. With Brown on the other side excelling in zone coverage, this may be the team finally putting the right pieces in place to go zone as Marinelli prefers.

Maybe they offered them something similar and they balked thinking they could get a better deal. Dallas has shown the past few years that it has a stopping point on its offers, so if Claiborne or Carr didn't want it, they move on.
I like that concept, works for the champion BUIOLDING teams

Ding, ding, ding. Spot on post. He's a depth guy for certain zone packages on passing downs...no WAY he'll be on an island covering top WR's like the Eagles asked him to do. Calm the *** down everyone. As another poster said, we are absolutely doing things the right way and focusing on the draft and some second tier, affordable FA's for depth purposes.

Haha, so we basically got him for absolutely nothing in regards to our cap.

Total insurance move.

I hope we do go back to more zone, when we ran primarily cover 3 in 2014 we had more turnovers. Carroll has good size for a zone corner, i'm just not sure about his tackling.

Regardless, this is a deal for basically pennies.

It'll be interesting. We spent big on the two best cover corners in free agency and the draft with Carr and Claiborne. We then foolishly made the switch to zone and didn't utilize them correctly. They're both currently off the roster as of right now. Maybe we're finally moving on and getting the right guys for the job. It's still frustrating that we spent 5 years on those two guys, but the past is the past.

Dont like it. Draft is loaded at CB, no need to waste money on this bum.

Exactly....Could have used that money to resign Wilcox. I'd rather have a 26 year old SS...that was coming on vs a 30 year old washed up CB.

Dumb move.

Looks like we are back to picking up everyone elses table scraps that fell on the floor.

If you think the money "could have been used to sign Wilcox" after seeing the numbers breakdown, then you have know idea what you're talking about with regard to the cap.

He sucks. But the contract details make me feel better. It looks more like a depth signing than expecting him to man one of the starting spots.

It's essentially a 3 million dollar 1 year deal. Not exactly pennies for a guy that some people are saying is exclusively a special teams gunner. Special teams only players usually get less than a million a year.

I really don't like this signing, hope it works out.......that's more than Mo got last year

LoL, pretty hilarious if your looking at it from a pissed off JJ perspective,, "wait till that ungreatful weasle Mo Claiborne hears about me giving this guy 20% more than I offered him":lmao2:

You labeling something a "dumb" move is hysterical...
