Jay Novacek didnt create any front page news the day he was signed back in the 90's, a Plan B free agent from the Cardinals. Still........

When they started the Plan B FA back then, there were 2 TE's available I wanted them to get one of them. Jay Novacek and Rob Awalt, both from the Cardinals.
I noticed when Dallas played the Cardinals, those 2 were always playing well against us, catching everything thrown their way. Not sure why they were on this list.

Dallas ended up with both of them. Novacek from plan B, and pretty sure Awalt was also, however it may have been he was released later on and Dallas picked him up. He also had back issues, which may have been why.

A blocking TE.
Should be a nice 3rd TE option instead of some people's wishful thinking Geoff Swaim reunion.

Still need a good backup receiving TE option behind Jarwin.
Getting a " real" legit blocking FB would be nice too.
I actually like Schultz potential. When you see him move around out there he’s super fluid and a natural hands kinda guy. Really wish the last coaching staff let him on the field more than once a game

Don't sleep on Cole Hikutini on the ps. McCarthy has found spots for all catch, no block TEs in the past.

And the extension to Jarwin seems like a big signal that Dallas doesn't require its TE1 to be an average blocker any more.

Awalt was a trade (1990) - 8th round pick/

I don't know much about him, but he sounds like just a blocker:

Former KC Chief. We can really use his 67 yards receiving next year.

he scored a TD I the SB, ask how many of our WRs or TEs have been to a SB and/or scored a TD in it?? ill wait lol

BTW we need a real blocker..we got one..Bye Schultz..

With Bell's contract he will be on the roster.
Jarwin, Bell, Schultz, if they stay with Schultz.

I did not like it when they drafted Schultz in the 1st place, back then. I think it was a knee jerk reaction to Witten leaving. They needed to use that pick for defense. I then kind of liked him somewhat in 2018, as he made some good catches. Seemed like he could develop well. Then Witten returned, he kind of disappeared, because of the coaches as well.
But I was coming around on him in 2018, and was hoping for more more in 2019. Then progressed was stopped.

However maybe he just needs more opportunities as I did start to like what I was seeing, as you said, when he was allowed on the field for a few plays last season.
I want to see how hw improves if given the chance this season.
