I'm sure he wanted a lot more, but Broaddus makes stuff up and back tracks on it constantly. I used to like him but I'm realizing he seldom has any "inside" info and seldom knows what he is talking about but his minions for some reason treat his ramblings as fact. Even his player evaluation has been really poor. Just my two cents and not jumping down your throat or anything
Broaddus seems to guess a whole lot. Like you said… he rarely has any real inside info. It is all just his opinion and he’s wrong a LOT.

Anthony Barr has bad hammies and bad knees. He'll last about 6 weeks before one of them act up and then miss games after that and be hobbled the rest of the season. Book it.

I’ve seen post after post—people crying for this guy. Sign Barr, we need Barr, do something Jerry, get it done Cap Boy, blah blah blah. So they sign him, and now it’s “what a dumb move!”

It's just the nature of the board. The ones who wanted him to sign haven't changed. They are happy about it. The ones who hate everything Dallas does or didn't want him to be signed are expressing themselves as well. I try to focus primarily on the fans who are not negative about everything. I may feel the need to respond to some of them, but for the most part, I pay more attention to either those who are objective or are happy when something like this happens.

That's very possible. Cheap players always come with issues. If it's a cheap good player, it's generally health-related. I think moves like this are fine as long as you are trying to create depth and not fill an absolute need. With Parsons, LVE, Cox and Barr, hopefully we'll have a combination of at least three of them healthy at the same time throughout the season. LVE also has had his health issues and Cox is coming off major knee surgery, so I won't be surprised if either of them miss some time this year as well. It's a tough game, and it's good to have a little quality depth to absorb the losses.

The problem is these tend to be our big signings in the offseason - we are relatively inactive most of the time. I also think some of you are giving the dopey Jones' family too much credit here, Barr is a guy they've had their eye on since the draft in 2014. They then tried to get him in 2018(?), almost had him, and they couldn't seal the deal and he went back with Vikings - now they finally got their man when he is beyond his prime and hobbled.

It's a position we could have put far more money in and we have the cap space for that. I'll just never agree with this approach to FA.

I'm not a fan of the approach, but it is their approach. I'd rather pick up Barr now than have Gifford as our fourth linebacker or late-round pick Devin Harper. So I applaud the move within the context of the type of moves the Joneses are willing to make. If you focus on the type of moves you and I believe they should make, you're spitting into the wind.

I thought Micah was going to play all 3 LB spots simultaneously . To be honest.

Perhaps Barr can bulk up and play DT. Position flex and all that.
Barr was expected to be a pass rusher coming out of college.

He did play some snaps in his first 2 seasons at DE.

Micah to safety....told you people it might happen. I have visions of another Roy Williams just throttling people with a 20yard head of steam.

I remember some Von Miller comparisons when Barr was being talked up pre draft.
Barr never hit that level, but he was a solid LB in this league and is a very seasoned Vet Prescence that comes with a successful stat sheet for those that love those stat lines.
Bottom line is if anything Barr improves our bottom depth, but I see no reason why adding Barr for his price to some crazy chemistry taking place right now with a young savy cocky Parsons
driving home the narrative that this defense is going to bring some major heat, love having a vet like Barr just being in the locker room with a young elite talent like Parsons.
I want parsons to be a perennial Cowboy for entire tenure, retire a Cowboy, and having a steady eddie like Barr, if only for that sole purpose of mentorship is worth every penny.

I reviewed Barr in a few game after his name came up as a possible Cowboys signing.

He looked like a solid NFL LB to me in 2021.

Obviously not a guy that you want in man coverage vs the uber athletic type TEs, but that's true for many starting LBs.

He has well above average size for an off-ball LB.

Even in 2021 he looked like he could play a weak-side DE position and not be a liability.

I wonder if he would have had an even better career as a 3-4 OLB.
