I am all for this move. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Sign him to a minimum with incentives and draft a young guy in the first round. The guy might be the best young CB in the league. Teams could pass at will on us last season.

Hes an Arkansas fan but there is no indication that he is head over heels in love with anyone other than in your own head.

Jones is not a sure thing and its not even going to be sure that he will be able to play until July. The draft happens in April and quite frankly there is no rational explanation for putting all your secondary eggs in the Adam Jones basket.

I watched the scouting combine with my own eyes and last time I checked I still had 20/20 vision. When McFadden ran the 40 they immediately flashed to Jerry. The love was written all over his face. Now go back into denial. I won't be surprised if the unthinkable happens.

You all keep talking about putting all your secondary hopes in Jones. Last time I checked he's only replacing two non factors at this time. It's not like we got rid of Henry and Newman... There will be at least one more corner brought in either via FA or the draft but I believe the McFadden possibility is becoming more and more real with every Schefter report.

Actually, doing what you say is a very worthwhile scenario. Fact of the matter is Henry is probably only going to be here for another year or two and even assuming Jones works out and Newman is resigned, with Henry gone we would be in the same boat once again in a year or two.

Another thing to consider is that Dave Campo has an excellent track record of developing your DBs. Henry had his best year under Campo as a rookie, he developed the likes of Kevin Smith and Reshean Mathis. Heck the guy even made scrubs like Duane Hawthorne managable.

I want to see a young corner or two brought in and developed by Campo. i am already excited to see how guys like Watkins, Brown and Ball will develop from here on out. Quite frankly our secondary play was less than inspiring under Bowles leadership.

Im not in denial, i am just not going to go with your outlandish scenarios based on a facial expression. I just am not a fan of fantasy land.

He had Brown for 5 seasons and that center while very good were the only two line players he ever had. The right side of the line was perennially bad. We had Larry Allen, Erik Williams and a bunch of scrubs on our lines for years and our line was terrible.

He did have awful lines and despite leading the NFL in tackles for losses which was said line contributed he still managed to average 1500 yards a season. Let that sink in 1500 yards per season for 10 seasons.

He had guys like Dalivor Bouwens, Conover, Lutz, Richards, Robers, Compton etc. Utley got hurt. The worst Emmitt ever had from 1990 to 1996 was Gesek and those guys mentioned above couldn't hold Gesek's jock.

It is no small coincidence that following the 1996 season when the line began to fall apart that Emmitt's rushing numbers also deteriorated. After averaging over 1500 yards a season for his first 6 years, his average dropped to less than 1200 for the remainder of his career.

Those are still superb numbers and i love Emmitt but the fact of the matter is that from 1991 to 1996 we had perhaps the best line in the history of profootball and to say that Brown, Glover and the scrubs were even in the same zipcode is laughable.

In terms of running the football Barry Sanders did more with less in the time that he played than Emmitt did. Emmitt was a better blocker and as receivers out of the backfield they were about the same but as a runner the only thing he had on Sander was that he played longer.

From

I never said I didn't like Sanders... I do, but I get tired of many dissing Emmitt and rationalize his sole success on our OL. The OL was good but maybe two HoF'ers at very best.

Just maybe this OL was so good because EMMITT was so good. Sanders was a very impatient runner. Could he have waited for holes to open like Emmitt did? Sanders was regularly taken out in short yardage Red Zone situations. Emmitt shined in that realm.

As a pure runner, Sanders was better, but Emmitt was a better RB... The interesting thing is that this "Best OL Ever" was largely a bunch of rag tags until Hudson Houck took them over...

Being the "Greatest RB Ever" involves MANY factors and breaks... Our RB next year will look pretty darn good behind a Houck line... book it...

Or the good guys get influenced by the bad guy

I for one hope he DOES influence our defense. I am tired of our defense getting punked by the likes of Brandon Jacobs. We have fire and explosiveness on the offensive side already; would be nice to see our defense wake up and punch somebody in the mouth now and then. I believe Pacman can bring some of that swagger back to the defense. Not the fake swagger that we thought we had last year, but real swagger that teams actually fear.

Pacman, when at the top of his game, is one of the best CB's in the league. He is way better than Henry, thats for sure. If we can get him on the cheap, and it looks like thats what would happen, it will be a low risk-high reward scenario.

Newman on the left side, Pacman on the right side, Henry in the slot, Watkins at FS, Hamlin at SS, Roy Willy on the bench, now thats a secondary!

Have his bodyguard shoot him?

Get real. He would add fire and intensity to the defense; something that is severely lacking. How many times has our defense folded when they needed to step up the most? More times than I care to count. Now we did take a step in the right direction but still when we needed that big stop against the Giants, we failed to deliver; we let the Giants march down the field and score right before the half after we had just gotten momentum. The Giants marched right down on the field in the second half again on their way to taking the lead for good. At times, we are just too soft..too many good guys can be a bad thing. Getting Pacman and Thomas should ignite a fire under the rest of the squad so that teams actually fear our defense.

Mark Stepnoski: 5 time pro bowler, 4 time all pro
Mark Tuinei 2 time probowler 2 time all pro
Nate Newton 6 time probowler 5 time all pro
Erik Williams 4 time probowler 3 time all pro
Ray Donaldson 6 time probowler 5 time all rpo
Larry Allen 11 time probowler 7 time all pro
Kevin Gogan 3 time probowler 1 time all pro

Tony Wise was a great OL coach before Houck got here.

Im not going tog et into the semantics of runner versus running back but no line the Lions ever had can compare to the offensive line that Emmitt enjoyed from 1991 to 1996. They were quite simply the best to ever play.

I would put up 1993's line Tuinei-Newton-Stepnoski-Gogan-Williams line up against any other line in the history of the NFL.

I do agree though that Houck will have us run blocking again.

We should do things the way Dan Snyder does?

Why?

Git real! We should not.

Not that Danny has cap money to pull the deal.

But the point is, no owner, if he could, would pass this deal up. If there is any substance to the rumors about Pac-Man, props to Jerra for being bold.

But again, anybody who feels so disillusioned by Pac-Man coming here and then to say I won't root for him, that's ... that's sad. That's sooooo pouty to the point of me having to say, "Go to the corner and don't come back until you learn to root for the team. And all its players." We've had real losers in the past. And criminals we never found out about.

But again, to ask why should we do things the way Danny Snyder does is wholly missing the point. Other owners, smart ones like Kraft and never do wells like Snyder alike, would not pass this deal up.

But nobody should have to stick around if he thinks they can't root for the Boys.
The crying room is filling up fast.
Only the true Cowboy fans will root for the Cowboys. All of the players.
So gitting Pac-man would be smart. Not because Snyder would do it, but because it will benefit US. And keep Pac-Man out of the other NFL East teams.

Quarters?

One of the funniest things I ever saw was strippers getting tipped with tooneys in a Canadian strip club. Tooneys are $2CAD coins:

We're keeping it G on this board, so I won't described the process in detail, but it involved tossing the coins into a playbill which was rolled into a funnel and placed strategically.

PACMAN HEADING TO BIG D?

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 20, 2008, 7:06 p.m.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he wants his off-season moves to make people say “wow.”
He may be close to a trade that would do just that.

Citing unnamed NFL sources, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Cowboys are attempting to acquire suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones, and that trade talks between the teams are intensifying to the point that one person close to the talks predicts a deal could be completed in the next week.

As compensation for Pacman, Dallas would send the Titans a mid-round draft pick, Schefter reports.
Jones is certainly talented enough that if he could get on the field, stay on the field and stay out of trouble, he’d be worth a mid-round pick. But can Jones do those things? That’s the big question. Jones is suspended and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will determine his status for 2008 before training camps open. Although a player can be traded while he’s suspended, the Cowboys would presumably want to trade for Jones only if they think there’s a good chance he’ll be permitted to play in 2008.

If the Cowboys add Jones, they’ll have two of the three players who were the league’s poster boys for bad behavior at this time last year. During the 2007 season they signed former Bear Tank Johnson, and now they appear to be closing in on acquiring Pacman. Perhaps they should contact the Bengals and inquire about the availability of Chris Henry.

You're preaching to the choir.

I hated TO in SF and Philly, but now I am so happy we have him, especially how he supports Romo.

But I think you aren't a true cowboys fan if you don't root for all the players. Get mad if they screw up, but don't hate the players on the team. They have a name for people like that, their called 'Eagles fans'.

Cowboys consider idea of trading for 'Pacman'

By MAC ENGEL
tengel@star-telegram.com

IRVING — Although the Dallas Cowboys can’t comment publicly about their interest in acquiring suspended Titans defensive back Adam “Pacman” Jones, it appears they are seriously considering the idea.

NFL sources said the Cowboys are looking into the possibility of trading for Jones, but that the discussions are moving at a slow pace. The third-year cornerback missed all of last season after he was suspended by the league for multiple off-the-field incidents.

Jones has yet to be reinstated but that wouldn’t prevent the Titans from trading him to another team. A suspended player can be traded but he would not be eligible to play until the suspension is lifted.

League spokesman Greg Aiello said in an e-mail Thursday, “[Jones] has been told that there will be a decision on his status for the 2008 [season] at some point prior to the opening of training camps. The commissioner will review all relevant facts, including his conduct over the past year, and make a decision.”

The Titans would probably prefer to trade Jones before the NFL Draft when he would command more in return.
NFL sources said the Cowboys could potentially offer a second-day draft pick, probably as high as a fourth-rounder, to obtain Jones. Last season the Patriots traded a fourth-round pick to Oakland in return for receiver Randy Moss.

Jones has made known several times his desire to play for the Cowboys. He is scheduled to fly to North Texas early next week for an appearance on the Michael Irvin Show on ESPN 103.3 FM.

League tampering rules prevent the Cowboys from talking to him or his agent while Jones is under contract with the Titans. (note: I believe this to be inaccurate, given reports that Tennessee has given permission for him to seek a trade)

With starting cornerback Anthony Henry coming off three consecutive injury-plagued seasons and the Cowboys having lost a pair of reserve defensive backs this off-season to free agency, they are in the market for a replacement. Jones, who turns 25 at the end of September, fits that role.
But the No. 6 overall pick of the 2005 draft hasn’t played in more than a year, and has been dogged by off-the-field problems since his playing days at West Virginia.

Yeah, his "fire and intensity" REALLY helped pick up that vaunted Titans defense, which finished DEAD LAST in the NFL in Jones' last season (2006)... they were 27th in pass defense that year...

And last year, without his "fire and intensity", the poor Titans only ranked 5th in total defense...

Every team needs that kind of "fire and intensity"... ROTFLMAO...
