Cowboys, Titans reportedly engaged in Pacman talks *Merge*

This makes no sense.

Jones would be a hedged risk gamble but still a large risk to bet the farm on considering hes one punched stripper from a lifetime ban and there is no guarantee hell be reinstated in July.

Even if we bring in Jones were still going to need a CB as of April 15th as well as a RB and WR not to mention upgrades in dpth at places like OG/C and NT.

To trade all the way up to 6 we would need to trade both first and our second. If we were unwilling to do that I am sure the Raiders would have no issue finding someone else in the top 15 like the Texans or a similar club in need of a RB that could give them a better deal. Same with the Jets or any other possible trading partner.

I really don't know why people aren't talking about trading up to get Mendenhall, DRC or McKelvin which is infinitely doable in teh range theyre projected to go or even drop to.

I guess its the offseason and people are bored but really fantasy land is just that, fantasy land.

Watch it happen and, as I stated, refer back later. They'll get some "insurance" either via the draft or via another trade but if they get Pacman they're going to go after McFadden too. Jerry isn't scared of a risk. TO can expand on that. Did they get any insurance for TO when they picked him up?

Jerry = Risk Taker

That is a popular misconception about Barry Sanders and it is false. Lomas Brown was a 7 time Pro Bowl LT for the Lions, and the Detroit Center, Kevin Glover was a 3 time Pro Bowler.

That tires on me too...

I get SO sick of the "Emmitt was good, but imagine Barry Sanders behind that line"...

Pure crap and propaganda...

Talent isn't all that matters. But talent does help.

Of course talent helps. Why would a team ditch a player in spite of it?

Besides, every situation is different. Tank was a very low-cost gamble. T.O. had never been in legal trouble. Neither was as bad a guy as PacMan.

I wonder if the attitude is going to be that, well, T.O. worked out, so now that shows we can take on every thug and bad actor.

By the way, I'm assuming any draft pick we would give the Titans is Conditional, no?

PacMan hasn't even been reinstated yet. And in case he screws up before he is even reinstated, we shouldn't lose a draft pick.

My inside sources tell me that the press conference to announce PaMan's signing will be held at 'Baby Dolls' during happy hour sometime next week.

On a related note...... i have been informed that PacMan has elected to recieve his signing bonus in small bills.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Well, someone had to say it:) :)

Quarters?

lol damn this isnt a boy scout troop.; do you guys think that some guy coming in here is going to hurt the feelings of our team seriously this is a great pick up no one really has an argument against if you do let me see it . if he starts acting up do you really think jerry and wade are goign to let him screw up their title chances.

THIS IS something that is being worked on...we confirmed it it looks like...something to watch

If true, i'm all for it. We all want a corner, well this is a great corner "with issues" but Jerry has a knack for rehabilitating players. I mean jeesh, when was the last time Jerry picked a troubled player out of free agency, and it back-fired on us?

I hope the Cowboys don't fall into the trap that some fans are.

Signing Pacman Jones in no way solves the need at corner for this team.

He is a calculated risk with a great deal of upside, not a reliable solution.

He should be treated as a bonus, not as a solution.

The team absolutely still needs to use a first rounder on a corner, regardless of what happens with this situation.

You're thinking too rationally. Jerry is head over heels in love with McFadden and at the same time realizes the very real possibility of getting Pacman... a very talented corner. It's wide open now.

He had Brown for 5 seasons and that center while very good were the only two line players he ever had. The right side of the line was perennially bad. We had Larry Allen, Erik Williams and a bunch of scrubs on our lines for years and our line was terrible.

He did have awful lines and despite leading the NFL in tackles for losses which was said line contributed he still managed to average 1500 yards a season. Let that sink in 1500 yards per season for 10 seasons.

He had guys like Dalivor Bouwens, Conover, Lutz, Richards, Robers, Compton etc. Utley got hurt. The worst Emmitt ever had from 1990 to 1996 was Gesek and those guys mentioned above couldn't hold Gesek's jock.

It is no small coincidence that following the 1996 season when the line began to fall apart that Emmitt's rushing numbers also deteriorated. After averaging over 1500 yards a season for his first 6 years, his average dropped to less than 1200 for the remainder of his career.

Those are still superb numbers and i love Emmitt but the fact of the matter is that from 1991 to 1996 we had perhaps the best line in the history of profootball and to say that Brown, Glover and the scrubs were even in the same zipcode is laughable.

In terms of running the football Barry Sanders did more with less in the time that he played than Emmitt did. Emmitt was a better blocker and as receivers out of the backfield they were about the same but as a runner the only thing he had on Sander was that he played longer.

I think rational is the way to go here.

It would be great for both the Cowboys and Adam Jones if he straightens out his life and becomes the player he can be. But I would hate to be stuck counting on that fact with no backup plan.

Schefter was just all over this subject on NFL Network.

If the Titans' asking price is reasonable, I think this is a done deal.

I understand JJ loves DMac but it just doesn't make sense to trade up at all. From a cap stand point it doesn't make sense to take a RB in the top 5 especially when you already have a Pro Bowl back and a touchdown machine in Barber. We can't just pay 2 RBs top end money it doesn't work that way. Some people love DMac but in reality all we need is a decent back up RB.

PacMan is a risk that if he pays off great, but if he doesn't you are stuck with only 2 decent CBs on your WHOLE ROSTER. We need CBs first and foremost because we don't have any; also it just happens to be the weakest part of team and our defense.

Hes an Arkansas fan but there is no indication that he is head over heels in love with anyone other than in your own head.

Jones is not a sure thing and its not even going to be sure that he will be able to play until July. The draft happens in April and quite frankly there is no rational explanation for putting all your secondary eggs in the Adam Jones basket.

Schefter also said he hears the deal could get done as soon as next week.
