I guess the good news would be that he wouldn't be the offensive coordinator?11 of 14 years as a offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer offenses has been no better than the bottom half of the NFL.
As I said earlier Dak is gonna be immobile for the upcoming months. Why let him learn a new offense?I really don't have a huge issue with Schottenheimer. My big issue if they went this route is that its likely a sign of staying the course. I guess I'm not sure why I would have ever expected differently though...
The most perplexing factor in all of this is Jerry's age. He is playing with his toy like he has 20 more years left around. Where is the urgency to win one before the grave?Think about it... Jerry forced Kellen on Mike to make sure Dak was comfortable. Now just a few years later, he's interviewing the guy who helped replace Kellen for HC to keep Dak comfortable.
I know plenty hate Mike, but at least he was an outsider who had won a Super Bowl and coached a perennial contender. It made sense. This time it's all about Jerry and Dak being as comfortable as possible. Not even an attempt to talk to the best candidates: Belichick (pre UNC), Vrabel, or Ben Johnson.
Jerry is just chasing his tail... with as little effort as possible.
Right. So the failure is you and not the front office.I really don't have a huge issue with Schottenheimer. My big issue if they went this route is that its likely a sign of staying the course. I guess I'm not sure why I would have ever expected differently though...
IMO Jerry doesn't think like this. He's a pathological over-optimist on everything. He's in good health and has the best medical care. He probably thinks he'll live another 10-15 years and still be in control most of that time. The most perplexing factor in all of this is Jerry's age. Yep. Doesn't make sense. You'd think he'd get more and more desperate with the clock ticking. The most perplexing factor in all of this is Jerry's age. He is playing with his toy like he has 20 more years left around. Where is the urgency to win one before the grave?
This guy's got a good feel on it.As the ole' saying goes, "leave no stone unturned". The Jones' boys are definitely serious about finding coaching talent.
I feel a dynasty forming.
Idk about that. There has been a lot of death in his circle the last few years. Some of his closest friends and Cowboys confidants have passed away recently. Plus, his mortality has been an open topic of a discussion. He and his son have gotten emotional bringing it up. Sacrificing a few years for Schottenheimer just to get to his true prize Witten seems like something you'd expect him to do in his 70's, not at 82.IMO Jerry doesn't think like this. Besides, he does have that Forbes #1 spot every year, which is his real goal.
As long as Dak is comfortable I guess its worth not improving the rest of the team.As I said earlier Dak is gonna be immobile for the upcoming months. Why let him learn a new offense?
I take it they aren’t contemplating the season ticket sales however. I expect them to drop with a bad hire.
$$$$&$Even if you are right and it's Jerry being Jerry, I just want to know where the hell are his kids? Do they have zero influence over him? Why are they not stepping in? I know he speaks highly of Charlotte, where is she? The whole family is useless.
