Wink has too strong of a personality for Jerry imo. Zimmer is fiery too but the jones know him. Don’t think martindale gets the gig
That‘s what I like the most about him - if we need a change of character to have any chance of postseason success he‘s probably the second best option right after Belichick, because he‘s definitely „hardcore“.

Martindale is probably going to require a multi year deal to get, and you can expect that yet again Jerry will force a coordinator on the next scapegoat/head coach.

That has to stop at some point considering it’s been a problem every time.

Whoever it is needs to be a one year deal that could possibly get extended if McCarthy does.

Umm, Vrabel is a retread. He’s been an NFL coach for a decade. Also, he’s not interested in being a DC according to most reports.
Should have said Dallas Cowboys retread I guess. Insanity - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Zimmer has already been here before, YEARS ago. Let's try someone new.

Um. But. Hold up. I'll take these results any day... and why wouldn't I?

After Zimmer is hired, I guarantee Jerry says something along the lines of Zimmer being “familiar with the way we do thangs here with the Cahbohz.”

Completely in the tone and context of it being some proven winning formula.

I don’t think he can comprehend the level of his own failure. Very into himself, and don’t dare question it.

Well who do you take?

Rivera? Ran out of town
Staley? Had a few interviews and remains unemployed
Zimmer? Hasn’t coached in two years

Its a crap sandwich regardles.
You sound like a fan. Those are not terrible choices.

Zimmer would be my last choice because I remember the first go around. I don't want to see us playing the Eagles next season with our DL not rushing the QB because they were told to stay in their lane so Hurts doesn't gash us with the run.

Mile Zimmer is a fake tough guy. Talks the talk and then walks like a coward.

All in all, I am content in knowing our front office will make the right decision. They have 60 years of combined experience.

like i said another retread that makes Jerry comfortable. I'm sure he will make the announcement this week. God forbid he pickup an up-and-coming young coach. Let's go after the same old has beens from 20 years ago.

I am totally good with this hire. He will bring a pressure defense that should be disciplined and focused on stopping the run which is severely needed.
I don’t remember him as a pressure D guy - he was always more conservative - bend don’t break

How do you know this? Defense wins championships and Zimmer has never been to a SB and only once been beyond the divisional round.

Why do you want a return to the 8-8 standard?
His defenses always been solid. He never had a good offense to match.

"He will bring a pressure defense" says the group that applauded his exit because he was too passive and conservative.
Spot-on! A pressure defence is always welcomed, lads. I don't trust FOs that do not want a pressure defence because pressure defences create pressure to help us win.

Marvin Lewis taught him a lot about pressure. He brought no pressure in Dallas but his time in Cincy helped his career greatly
