You do get that effort....but the "media" tells you that he doesn't........

And I wasn't giving Dez a cookie by bringing that up....some poster said "He can't juke anyone" or along those lines when just a week ago he broke someones ankles. The Dez criticism is a joke. We scored 30 today. I don't want to hear about the offense today. I'm not gonna fault these guys for not putting up 50 points. 30 should be more than enough.

What does the media say? Because I don't follow them.

You shouldn't need the media to tell you something that you can judge for yourself by watching the game. whether it's effort or just flat being out of shape, this guy jogs through 50% of his routes. It's blatant.

It has to be getting harder for even Jerry to deny. He cant be happy right now.

He's all in on Garrett.

I don't think there is a frog's chance in hell he would make a change unless this season craters.

I think he truly believes Garrett is a great coach and will right the ship, if not this year, definitely next year.

They became too emotionally invested in Garrett and its destroying the franchise.

We could have Julio, Odell, and Antonio Brown on this team and still not win anything with this Head Coach and his staff.

Even Garretts biggest supporters have to be seeing the light after todays disaster

Want to contend?

Let this young team grow with a new staff.

The pieces aren't necessarily the issue. Wasting anymore years on this staff is a tragedy however.
There are some odd things about the offense in terms of route combinations.

I'm leery about Jerry hiring a new HC. It could get worse. Garrett does provide some a reasonable facsimile of a Head Coach. That was not true with Wade or Campo. This would be a good team to take over if you were a head coach but the team Garrett took over from Wade was s disaster of over-entitled under-achievers.

I'll take the chance.

Continuing on this path of mediocrity under this staff would be the definition of stupidity IMO.

Is this serious?

Yes, we could start polishing our SB trophy if Jones or Brown could also play S, LB and maybe DE.

Oh and maybe call plays on D too.

LOL. You guys overrate how close this team is to being elite.
Nope.

If they get ahead and don't have screw up like the punt fumble, they can be decent on defense and with an Antonio Brown to draw double coverage, the run game and other receivers will start clicking.

They had to play run-D today but they have some pass rush ability when not facing a top runner. Irving is back next week.

Ehh.....I have no problem with the staff but if they go 8-8 or 9-7 or worse this year than yeah may need to go in a different direction.

Why are you telling me about the media when i'm the one telling you that you shouldn't listen to the media lol?

The defense is so far from being able to help this team win a SB - from the coaching staff, to lack of any real elite talent on D.

Every year you guys keep telling some of us how the D really is going to grow this year. I've been waiting for like 3 off seasons.

The defense lacks the talent and coaching. They need picture perfect performances from the O to win games - eat clock and score TDs.

Only Dez and Witten are on the decline.

The defense is very young but is getting better with experience. Losing Lee as the field general was too much with Hitchens already out. The LBs are the brains of a Marinelli defense.

The OL is still young as well as Dak and Zeke. Beasley and TWill are in their prime. Two WRs are rookies. They have a potential TE threat when Rico returns and Hanna looked decent today.

I don't deny any of this but the fact is this is a young team and a young team will play like a young team. It happens.

8-8 or 9-7 won't be good enough for that. I think 6 wins or less might lead to some kind of change.

Well.....I don't see it getting that bad but if it does then yeah he will be out the door....though maybe not....usually with these head coaching changes they usually get rid of the DC or the OC first....so I could see Maranelli or Linehan getting the can first and then a season after Garrett gone.

They love Garrett...they won 13 games last year...that will at least by him another year.

Yea, I didn't mean Garrett. There are a few guys who will take the fall first, starting with Marinelli.

Dez had been replaced been replaced by a top 5 WR.

Like 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon, all problems can be traced back to Dez underperforming.

At least 2 critical plays where the ball touched both of his hands and he failed to catch it. The problems are numerous.

His improper routes and mis-timed jumps make it appear to be Dak's fault but with slow motion you can see it's almost always a screw up by Dez.

If the #1 WR is easily single-covered, then other receivers will struggle. If receivers struggle then defenses load up against the run.

When the offense struggles, the very young defense struggles because they play too many snaps.

When the above happens, the coaches and players start pressing. When they press, the coaches don't force the punt retuner to fair catch like they did much of last season. The result is a turnover.

With Antonio Brown or Julio Jones the Cowboys could start buying the polish for their Super Bowl trophy and rings.

The defense will get better as the season progresses. They are super young.

The OL will start to jell as they have more time with the new players.

Any bad teams with a good WR in the last year of his contract?

Maybe when Rico returns he can be a spark plug on offense to overcome the Dez albatross.

It's sad that one player has likely doomed this team and it's the highest paid player.

Not in disagreement-but the problems are much deeper.

I think it would be surprising how momentum would cover up some smaller issues. The offensive momentum and time of possession covered up a lot of defensive problems last season.
