the more I think about it, I put most of the blame on the two first half fumbles

It robs us of 2 possessions, obviously. The first sets up WAS in FG territory, which they ultimately convert. The second is at their 5 yard line, robbing us of at least 3 and probably 7. This game was always going to be closer than we wanted, but without those point swings I think we end up with a comfortable victory of something like 24-10.

the story of the game should be the same as week 1, but people will focus on Romo and the 4th quarter/OT

valid points I agree but also realize that nontheless we still were in the game and screwed up on 2 different instances in which we neglected the run. our staple the entire year. both on dez drop td from weeden,we ignored murray in close after after a huge run and passed it twice. once again like i said repeteadly on 2nd and 2 after a 8 yard run by murray in OT. if we run the ball in both situations this game ends differently. shoot if we ran it from when weeden came in nd threw 2 goal line passes we dont even see OT!!

Even with the loss, the Cowboys are still tied for the division lead (though Philly has the tiebreaker due to no losses in the division).

We're still alone in first place. We're 6-2, and the Eagles are 5-2.

I hate to break up Cowboys Rehab, but a little perspective here:
  • Every coaching staff and team has a bad day at the office. Yes, the offensive coaching staff didn't get it done today, and should not have let Romo back into the game. But, one loss does not wipe out all of the improvements seen thus far.
  • Even with the loss, the Cowboys are still tied for the division lead (though Philly has the tiebreaker due to no losses in the division).
  • The team is saying Romo has a bruised back. This is good news. If he was injured more seriously, this team would be in trouble.
  • Murray continues to show that he is a stud, but needs to work on attention to detail. He had two bad plays tonight, and both were costly.
  • Henry Melton looked quick and explosive tonight, and may be getting his legs back.
  • DeMarcus Lawrence will be ready to make his debut next week, and this can only help things out.
  • The team is 6-2. Yes, we all wish it were 7-1, but they are positioned to compete for the division and the playoffs. The South is a complete dumpster fire. The North is a two team race between the Packers and Lions, and both teams are dealing with injury issues (Rodgers less than 100%, Fairley gone for 6 weeks, and Megatron having missed the last two weeks). The West looks like it will be between the 49ers and Cardinals, and the Cowboys can make that race even tighter with a win next week.
I hate losses as much as the next guy, but this team played well in the first half of the season. Now, we will truly see how much progress they have made now that they have hit some adversity.

Good teams have got to beat bad teams, stop making excuses and start holing coaches accountable, our HC failed to have this team ready for a divisional game. I can accept other loses, but not this one, there is zero reason for thsi team to not steam roll bad teams and again Garret plays down to the competition. NO excuses.

Pretty sure he audibles out of the first throw.
i dont recall that but if so its idiotic to even give him that ability and not emphasis a run call. you just gashed them and had your backup in there. needing only a few yards run it and put yourself in position to score or a 3rd and goal probalby at the 1 or so. I dont blame weeden for that

all this is true, I just felt like watching the game, it was there to be won in the first half. Their offense wasn't doing anything and we moved the ball well enough to go in with more than 7 at the half. If we go in 14 or 17-3, the whole game is different. But we let them hang around, and the rest is history.

Where was there an excuse made? In an earlier post, I said that the coaching staff screwed up in letting Romo back in the game, and that Linehan was completely outcoached by Jim Haslett. And, quick question - how does a fan hold coaches accountable? It's not as if anything I type will change how they approach their jobs, nor should it.

Romo has been doing good all year long. But Washington (I refuse to call them by their nick name) they had nothing to lose and went into an all out blitz look and Romo was just confused all night long. Meanwhile, Weeden came in and had no problems with it. Strange.

They didn't seem to blitz as much with Weeden in there.

If Rex Ryan is let go in New York, it won't be because of the fans holding him accountable, whatever that means.

It will be because he has failed, and his GM did nothing to set him up to succeed as a coach.

Romo was hurting so bad after the game that he had to have his dad drive his car home. The guy is not the same QB when he is injured. His ego needs to stop hurting the team and just sit out until healthy again.

Well, we are what we are. Tap breaks, look both ways and proceed with caution. We are taking a journey on the Cowboy Trail. It seems the road is still a little bumpy. :(

No, his coach needs to man up and do what's best for the team. Christ, who is the coach and who is the player?

What I have to say about this team is this. We are a dominant running team, yet we tried to get cute and throw it down on the 2 twice. Why? That's not being the bully. We were the bully in most of these games and we stopped trying to bully them. It's sickening. Also, why do we keep making mistakes? From now on if I'm Garrett, I tell Murray to get all the yards he can get and then GO DOWN! Your hands aren't good enough to take on 6 tacklers and not fumble the ball. Untimely sacks, just throw it away please.

Until we stop making mistakes which we've done in nearly every game, we won't last against well coached teams that knows how to attack our weaknesses.

I am the first one to be very critical of Romo, but tonight's loss is not on him. It's on the coaches. Romo had no business being in there, absolutely had no business throwing on 2nd,3rd,4th downs when the running game was working. Very few screens, dump offs, or draws to slow the rush. And frankly, if you are going to place blame, Murray needs his share. His fumbling finally cost us a game tonight. The team had been lucky til tonight. he has to stop it or the yards won't matter.
