Cowboys willing to listen to offers for Leary **merged**

Just me, but if we didn't have Collins and Martin, I'd pay a 2nd for him. If they get less than a 3rd they're getting fleeced.

But they DO have Collins and Martin and teams know that. A 3rd rounder for a backup guard with bad knees is far better than anything i'd expect. I was thinking more along the lines of a 4th or 5th and at that point you have to ask yourself if he's worth giving ups or that. But if you can get a 4th or get back into that 5th round...maybe that's enticing.

Leary is a proven, very good starting/backup guard. I'll take the sure thing. 4th round is more miss than hit with our scouting department.

Leary is a luxury though. And you'd then have three 4th round picks. I don't think you could package the compensatory pick but you could package the other 2 and go up in this draft and snag another player who's high on your board. I wouldn't lose sleep over them trading him or keeping him. He's a nice luxury to have. But he's here what? For another year? If you can get something for him I don't see why you wouldn't deal him as opposed to letting him just leave next year.

What about Leary + McFadden for any sort of pick(s)? McFadden coming off a 1000 yard season on a really good contract... he has to have some value.

I think DMC would have very little value, even on a cheap deal. Old, injury prone and average. I would feel fortunate to get a 6th.

You guys are silly. Leary doesn't have much value around the league, and honestly, not much value on the team considering they're looking at paying him $2.5M to sit on his couch on Sundays. Stop thinking emotionally and use your head.

McFadden has more value to us than we would ever get back in a trade. He gave us over 1000 yards for very little money last year with a complete dumpster fire at the other skill positions.

I don't disagree. It's already doubtful all the 6th rd picks could even make this roster as is. No need to add another.

I'd hold out for no less than a third round pick (even if it seems a bit steep.) He could easily prove extremely valuable as a backup if one of our guards go down.

Leary's greatest value is being a reliable plug and play backup. I am not trading him.

For a year, because he is gone next year.

If they got a four in exchange for a one year rental, that is a victory. That said, less than that they may be better off keeping him.

Agree.

I take a 4 for Leary in a heartbeat.................like you said, he is gone after this year since he is an UFA and wants to start in this league.

Anything below a 4 and I just keep him for insurance.

Id like to see a player for player trade for Leary. Or for a 2017 pick. Bad time to trade players for current picks. May be able to score a 2017 day 2 from someone who missed and OG run

Very astute. That would be the best thing to do here. If we could trade for some secondary help or someone on the defensive line, that would help us right away.
