Using high end picks on oline was great for us. But it's also fortunate that they all turned out to be legit 1st round talent. So many high end oline projects lately haven't panned out for other teams.

And yet the bust rate for OL, particularly guard, is far lower than any other position.

Really thought Cooper was going to be a good one.

yeah me too. Everyone always says our OL is good because we spent 3 first round picks on OL.....that may be true but that's only half of it. The other half is that those picks we spent turned out to be pro bowlers almost instantly. There are a lot of teams that have spent multiple first round picks on OL recently only to find out the players aren't good pros. How did Eric Fisher pan out and he was the top overall pick? Warmack, Cooper...just a long list of top picks that didn't really pan out. So yeah we invested heavily, but we struck gold every time also, and also happened to nab Collins and Leary as UDFAs....so confluence of events, not just the fact that we used the picks.

Seems like a low risk "look-see". Not a bad idea with the imminent departure of Leary and possibly Free after this year. Green and Collins battle it out at RT and Cooper back up either

I was sold he was going to be a great player when he was drafted.......I guess we all miss, right.

He still might in the right circumstance. He looked like an amazing prospect coming out of college. His scouting tapes are really impressive. The guy was a dancing bear out there.

Could be considering him for OG depth & using Collins as a swing tackle for the playoffs.

I don't think they'd make any move like that at this time. Not enough time to prepare. I would think that it's more of a 'post-Ron Leary' preparation.

If Belicheat couldnt get anything out of him, probably nothing to get. Particularly when you consider how bad O Line play has been in the league this year, and how desperate teams are to find guys.

In his defense, he was running with the first string before he got hurt in New England. And it looks to me like the Patriots have been cracking the whip hard and sending a lot of offensive linemen out ther door lately.

If you could sign Cooper to play left guard, you would be able to experiment with Collins at RT anyway, given the odds that Leary will move on.

If we are looking at signing Cooper maybe Collins stays on IR and we bring back Tapper?

Edit, just saw the previous post from David Moore...oh well.
