Ramsey, that makes teams throw to Diggs side. Let's see what he's really made of before he gets paid.

The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports a trade of Rams CB Jalen Ramsey to Dallas is "picking up steam in league circles."
The Dallas secondary struggled in the second half of last year after losing CB Jourdan Lewis to IR. Ramsey could be a fit for the Cowboys, who believe they are 'one piece away from being an elite defense.' Pairing Ramsey with Trevon Diggs would give the Cowboys one of the top corner tandems, but wouldn't come cheap, likely costing Dallas a first-round pick and a new contract extension. “

Keep in mind that for 2025 there are only 13 players under contract (as of today).

Season
Cap Space
2023
-$7,198,743.00
2024
$84,211,188.00
2025
$208,677,080.00
2026
$277,900,000.00
The way this team turns over talent with the draft it really isn't a big issue. This is where McClay is so valuable to this team. I really believe he's probably the highest paid exec in the nfl. Teams have went after him and he's turned every single one down quick.

I really believe if Dallas were to get ramsey, they would trade Diggs. So idk bout this. Noway could you pay Ramsey then Diggs being a Ufa in 2024 is a disaster waiting to happen

Secondary took a hit when Lewis got hurt but the wheels fell off when Brown got hurt.

That would be quite the move and we need CB. I'd be for it.

agree but then the issue is his compensation. His existing deal. I dont think we can afford him PLUS pay the guys we have.
He would be our best offensive player.

He should be paid more than anyone we have on offense aside the QB position.

We can pay anyone we want like any other team can. This league is about picking your spots and the year.

The mere thought of the Cowboys "working" on "something big" is absolutely terrifying.

"Big' as in contributing to playoff success, or "big" as in garnering media attention and generating fan excitement during the offseason?

Something "big' to me would be a massive improvement in gameplanning, personnel decisions made by the actual professionals in the coaching and scouting departments instead of rank amateurs like the Jones's, and the granting of autonomy and authority to the HC instead of the constant interference and public contradictions from the owners.

So we would have 80 million to play with??
No, we dont realistically have $80m to spend. That's a figure we would have if we converted every player's Basic Salary (above $1m) into Prorated Bonus....that's just Fantasy Football (it would kill the 2024 CAP and that's also assuming the players you brought in this year were on a 1 year contract).
Other considerations are that the $208m quoted for 2025 is effectually $178m after draft picks and paying minimum for the 52 roster.
Also that 2025 team would be (Offense) : Gallup, Zeke, Tyler and (Defense): Sam, Damone and Bland
Certainly convert some of the 2023 salary into bonus, however, that comment from Jerry about the CAP (first time ive heard him use the CAP as an excuse) possibly indicates that he's not confident in going ALL-IN behind Dak. I'd ***** this year's FA and lets see where Dak is.....making signings in 2024 are a lot easier, especially as 1) we know what Dak really is 2) we can make signings/trades and reduce the CAP Hit in year one (2024) by designating as signing bonus.
signing bonus to push back the heavir Cap Hit into 2025.

Why do we need a corner? Can he play QB, no honestly Is he gonna help stop the run and generate pass rush? On defense our main problem was not corner and Bland played very well and should be able to start opposite Diggs and Lewis comes back in the slot this year.
