I agree with all that you said and your right, but after that Thanksgiving game when RGIII abused us there were many saying oh we have this to look forward to for the next ten years. Look by no means am I saying Dak will be RGIII. Dak will be fine. But the only point here is lets be careful because people go overboard after one season. Good or bad. I agree with the people who say if Dak was an Eagle and had the same exact year with the same team many many cowboys fans would be saying oh he is not that good, without that O Line he would suck. That's all Im saying. So let's just let it play out. Dak will have his growing pains. This year will not be a easy. If I had to choose I would say he will be fine and have a very very good career. Let's see what happens. It just that my expectations for this team is not as high as most.
No doubt that Dak's surrounding cast is a big part of Dak's success. However, this also goes beyond the football field. RGME was trademarking his moniker and selling merchandise under that copyright before he had even stepped on the field. He was dubbed the "chosen one" by his owner from the word go completely circumventing everyone from his teammates to his trainers to his head coach. RGME waltzed into Washington as though his (nor his family's) **** stank. He acted entitled because he WAS entitled.
Dak Prescott, on the other hand, refused to accept ANY endorsement deals during his rookie season because it would distract from his preparation for football. By about the 9 week of the season, those endorsement deals were becoming VERY lucrative. He still held off to maintain his focus on his own development and team success.
Anyone using a stat line to try and compare the two players is making a major mistake because it's literally the only comparison that the two have in common. One is athletic and cerebral. The other is strictly athletic. One is team focused. The other is self focused. One is a leader of men. The other is an *******.
Now, with all that being said, I DO understand your apprehension regarding this teams' success. Every time we seem to be turning a corner or are on the cusp of something great Lucy swipes the ball out from under our kick attempt and we are sitting on our ***** dazed and confused about what the hell just happened. No one can promise us that the stars are going to align and we'll be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season. There are just too many variables involved for anyone to predict anything like that. However, I can say, with almost absolute certainty, that (barring injury) Dak Prescott with NOT be the reason this team fails. Will he make mistakes? Of course. Does he have a lot to learn? Abso-freaking-lutely. Could he actually be a better quarterback this year and we'll have a worse record? Most pundits are betting on it. But one thing that you can count on is that the kid will not be out-worked.........by anyone.
As a side note, I won't tell you (or even request) how to post, what to post or any of that other garbage but I will say that there is a syndrome around here known as the CZ syndrome it's born of constant whiners who have no interest in celebrating this team's success. Their only interest is to *****, whine, complain, and pan any move made by the team, Jones, Garrett, or anyone else of importance. They are the petulant child who has nothing better to do but whine that the world just doesn't go their way. They've been dubbed the Summer's Eve crew (#douchecrew). They take pleasure in shooting down every single positive posted thought about this team with the usual "Jerry Jones sucks/Look at the past 20 years/Garrett's a puppet/any other insult they can possibly come up with. Their mindset is based in cowardice. It's easy to sit back and whine like a ***** and say "I told ya so" all day. It's takes more of a chin to invest yourself in the team and see things for what they actually are (good and bad). Because we didn't win the Super Bowl, the #douchecrew saw the entire season as a failure. Others have the sense to realize that this team is heading in the right direction. The reason that I point any of this out is because you're obviously new here. I wouldn't ever discourage you or anyone else from posting your opinion (it's the basis of any discussion board) but don't let the "boo-hoos" discourage you from feeling good about a damned good football team. Again, I understand your apprehension but we're on the cusp of something special, here. It's OK to have the balls to get behind it rather than letting your enthusiasm get washed away by the obstacles in the turd bowl.
