Cowherd: "It's ridiculous to expect Dak to get over the hump, as it would be for Kirk Cousins."

First of all, if you have to use Brady and Mahomes to make your point, you dont have one.
I don't really have a point. I'm not even sure why this was brought up by whoever brought it up....I'm just saying I don't think the Chiefs and Pats have/had great rosters on some of their SB teams... they just had elite HOF level QBs.

Those other teams had GREAT rosters feom top to bottom... (but you kind of had to back then, before free agency....when "dynasties" were much more common and you could keep great teams together

Yet everyone loves Brock Purdy.

The players around the QB and more importantly the coaching are just a small factor.

Dak won’t fail by himself…. if he does fail, he will have plenty of help.

One thing that’s been constant over many league changes….the QB gets too much credit and also too much blame.

Is he the greatest? Not even close, but he does give them a chance to win whether anyone would prefer to admit it.

Some of us are tired of chances. Romo gave us a chance to win, Danny White gave us a chance to win. It never came because that chance was an illusion.

Baloney.

Brady had the best Defense in the NFL during his early SB wins. His Offense wasn't bad either. Plus, he had arguably the best coaches in the league as well. Same thing when he won his last SB with Tampa Bay. That team was loaded both on Offense and Defense.

Same goes for Mahomes. Loaded Offense and top 10 Defense, plus some of the best coaches in the NFL.
I said SOME of those Brady teams. The early ones were very good.

You think the Chiefs 2022 roster was great? I think they were above average . Their D had Chris Jones....and that was about it as far as stars. I think their D greatly benefited from Mahomes always getting them a lead. They were just average in pts per game...even with assistance of frequently having a lead.

I'd take every NFC East Defense over them....except maybe NY

Some of those Brady teams were just kinda above average....and he made them great.

Same with Mahomes....chiefs aren't great without him.

Aikman and Elway....( and steve young and Jim Kelly and montana) had great teams.
Your first statement is not entirley true, he sometimes had an average WR core but if you noticed those years they ran the ball threw to 2 TE's who would've been in the HOF (one will be certainley) and had a #1 defense..Tom Brady is great he doesnt need your help in re-writing history. Mahomes is the best QB in the league right now for sure, but saying his SB winning teams were not great is silly, the 1 year he lost Olinemen before the SB he got killed.....

Not "leaning on that play"...it wasn't about Dak at all.

I was explaining the irrationality of a couple forum members.

You think I have "misinformed" ....opinions? You make up so much stuff in your head you have no idea about my opinion.
Your Dak opinions are misinformed. I can’t speak on your other opinions all I see you talk about is Dak and Romo.

Sorry....did you ask me that? Honest question Maybe I missed it?

Also..a side note. I AM NOT nor ever have been in the bash Dak camp, so there was no agenda here. Just straight data.

Anyway, It's just a formula using average NFL passer rating by year over the course of a player's career vs current average passer ratings.
Just common sense stuff given all the rule changes and scheme changes over the years.
Apples-to-apples adjustments.

There's a lot of formulas. I think there's a true stats guy here that has an even better, more universal adjustment.
Even a website, I think.
His results were more thorough (larger database) but his outcome for the players we follow is almost identical.
I thought everyone knew about this stuff here, so sorry if I took it for granted.
I know that you know ratings have been going up steadily for 30+ years--in large part due to massive rule changes protecting the QBs and offensive players, and more QB-friendly offensive schemes. It just normalizes the numbers....nothing more.

Not trying to pull one over on anyone. This is pretty common knowledge.

A 90 passer rating in 1980 > than 90 rating in 2010 > 90 rating in 2020, etc.

If a new QB has a 97 rating this year, his 97 will not be as high as Dak's when adjusted.

Fair enough. I get what you’re saying I just don’t think you can simply say Roger would have a 106’QB rating based on inflating his numbers to current day stats. Just don’t think you can plug and play a guy like that. The game got less physical but I don’t know if it got easier.

So weird these two are always being compared as the village losers @TheMarathonContinues

wonder why that is... lets ask Amari
We live in a lazy society. Before Cousins it was Derek Carr….before Derek Carr it was Alex Smith. Like comparing Lamar Jackson to to Michael Vick. It’s just lazy. That’s the excuse of the national media anyway. What are these fans excuse? I don’t know.

actually cousins is 1-6 against Dak and cowboys, since he played in Washington as well and played cowboys twice a year.
Ahh, the original post did say against Cousins. I somehow took it as Cousins as a Viking. So, Dak does have a 4-1 record against Cousins.

Cowboy teams superior to average teams so not surprising.

Why not just use Roger or Troy if we are pulling past Cowboys to come in and win? Roger and Troy won not just chance actually did it.
