A little higher than I what I would have considered (I was thinking 5/40, with 18 guaranteed).

He's getting about 1/2 of what Dareus just received from the Bills.

It's not cheap. Probably a million or two more per year than I think he has earned. It also is buying on potential and locking him in cheap if he has the type of year we expect.

It's a prudent decision from out front office and for Tyrone.... A guy who has already had a major injury in his career.

Our front office continues to make strong calculated gambles.

It's a gamble. A strong gamble? Could be....
Given all factors- I'd say this is a medium risk, bordering low, but injury history looms so we can only hope for the best, but...

I'm not crying!

The elite DTs have got a lot more in free agency, Suh got 19 million on average. Most recently Dareus got 15. The cap is going up.

Except TCraw isn't elite, yet. At this point he would be considered about average. He's definitely not Sapp or Randle caliber. Right now he's not even Cullen Jenkins. Again, yet.

Hence the non-Elite contract.

And he's making a lot less than the elite. Cullen Jenkins. Get out of here with that crap.

This is how you conduct business in today's NFL for an ascending player at position that is paid a premium. If you wait until he has a great year this year, and make no mistake about it unless he is injured he will, then the price goes through the roof. This way you sign a future star without compromising your ability to lockdown your best offensive lineman in the future. This contract will look like peanuts in two years.

You cannot be reactionary when handing out contracts to core players or you will always be paying top dollar and that will effect your ability to keep other core players down the road.

He's getting half of what elite money comprises. He projects to improve significantly this year as well. Has a season worth of tape and experience at his new position, he was coming on as the year progressed last year and he is only 25 years old. I much prefer paying for what someone is expected to do as opposed to paying age. This is precisely the type of player good franchises retain. Young and improving.

What's the guaranteed money? This is a ton of cash for a guy that hasn't had a dominant season yet, I'm sure its structured well for both sides but I haven't seen the official numbers yet.

Cowboys bring back water boy .. yet we couldn't keep Murray.
Cowboys bring back field painters .. yet we couldn't keep Murray.
Cowboys bring back concession workers .. yet we couldn't keep Murray.

Actually. They let last years concession workers go to Philly with Murray. We're going with a cbc this year. Might be harder to get a Hot Dog. But beer service should remain as strong as last years.

On to Hardy.

I'll think they will focus on Hardy after the season. It will let him establish himself, let the bad press die down and also his market value is pretty well established. They wouldn't get a savings by moving early like they did with Crawford or Barry Church.

If he plays like they expect him to, it will end up being cheap.

If he plays just so-so, they'll end up having over-paid some.

That's the nature of signing a guy a little earlier than some would.

The Cowboys coaches know him better than anyone else does and if they think he's going to be worth it, then I see it as a smart gamble.
