Ah... Forgot about him. Thanks.Tapper. He's about ready to return.
Ah... Forgot about him. Thanks.Tapper. He's about ready to return.
He produces nothing at DT and we have nothing at DE so why not.
Heck David Irving gets eaten up at DE. So I would rather see Crawford give it a shot and move Irving back inside.
Maybe I'm being a pessimist but we paid him 3T money. If they're going to switch him to a far less important position in the scheme his money should be switched too.
Also it would be another mark against the supposed greatness of Rod Marinelli if it turned out Irving was a better 3 Tech than DE and Crawford was a better DE than 3 Tech.
Should we move to Tyrone Crawford to DE? We played him there in the second half against Washington and he played pretty well including that sack where he just completely abused the RT. On top of that here's an interesting tweet he said after the game.
Moving Irving inside I also believe he would better there, move Crawford to LDE we have to get creative
Where's the beef ????I have no problem moving him to left DE and starting tank at RDE. I don't know if he's fast enough, but not opposed to seeing what he has.
Our D always gets these skinny DTs, fast twitch DTs and as a result they get injured and hurt. Get done fat knighton type DTs please.
He played a good chunk of the 2nd half at end on Sunday.Wait is this more than speculation? That Crawford is going to play a lot more DE?
Haven't paid attention to Seattle's alignment this year but when Mebane was there he played LDE as a 5 technique mostly. Basically just two gapping that side, he was a beast there and it worked well. But, they also used Irvin and Clemons/Avril I think as "LEO" type strongside backers to rush the passer.
They also had a ton of talent so being creative was easy. We don't have a pass rush and Wilber/whoever aren't near those guys caliber.
But, once Lawrence comes back, playing around with TC at end and Irving at DT or McClain/Thornton on run downs would be worth an experiment in my opinion at least. At the very least it might be stout against the run.
Not sure how many snaps Irving has had at DT but he was efficient in the snaps he got last year, we have to find a way to generate some kind of pass rush occasionally and get more production out of the DL. Maybe Collins will show enough to warrant attention at some point. I hope.
I tend to agree, moving Irving outside is a bit of an indictment on his ability to think outside the box. This one switch would greatly improve the effectiveness of this defensive line. Seems like they just look at Irving's frame and believe he MUST be a DE, without recognizing the more subtle reasons why he is great on the interior.
Good point......maybeWe could. Imagine this 3-4 if all the players were healthy/available:
RDE - T. Craw
NT - Thornton
LDE - Collins
ROLB - Gregory
RILB - Lee
LILB - J. Smith
LOLB - Lawrence
We will be dissapointed watching him move to DE. He just doesn't have the agility and burst for an edge rusher. I just don't think he's healthy, and I don't think he's a scheme fit. He's a perfect 3-4 DE.
