Throwing for 22 TD's and turning around and handing it to Zeke every play is not that difficult.

WE can find someone to do this.

Dak is actually proof of that. We took a 4th round talent and just with conservative play they got solid production.

Go get another. This isn't a 25+ million dollar player. This is a Cousins / Alex Smith deal in the making.

    Just stop already.

He's gonna get paid where the market is for a starting nfl QB.

You say he's mediocre, i say youre mediocre when it comes to this topic.

Ill step aside as a big Dak fan and say yes he has some accuracy issues and yes he has fumble issues. But the guy has the 2nd most wins in the nfl since coming in to the nfl, and has the most game winning drives in that time. you of all people question the wr core the coaching the ol blocking and the FO lack of bringing in players. But expect Dak to be perfect.

Maybe you should take a minute and rewatch some games because while he does miss some shots and make some boneheaded plays, he is a great with the ball in his hands. This yr it wasnt Elliot the team leaned on that big 2nd half to the season, they put the ball in Daks hands. And he was great.

Too many posters just like you want to judge Dak on his stats. Thats ignorant to how Dallas schemes. This team plays smash mouth football with intermediate timing routes.

I cant see how anybody can be mad at what this team has at QB with the way he played after he had a complete offense. This kid hasnt lost a game when the team needed a score in his NFL career.

I can understand some poinst you have with this team but your stance on Dak as many have said here is delusional.

There are problems within this team but QB isnt one of them.

This team knows how to handle a QBs contract situation. They did it with Romo his entire career. Romo only hit 10mil as a caphit once and it was in 2017 when he asnt even on the team. He was making 9mil yearly while Brees Brady and Rodgers were at 15mil. Why because the team knows how to structure a contract to be able to restructure it. Relax and give your hate a break.

    How is my stance delusional?

Paying mediocre talent is a good thing? Bad teams do it so the Cowboys can too?

He is clearly only as good as the players around him so you think it's a smart idea to pay him a ton of money and weaken the players around him?

This thread pretty much details the members of this board who are hilariously naive in terms of what Prescott would and should be paid on the open market.

Hey guys Prescott should make $15m per year, I’m a realist btw

Seems like he feels some pressure. It adds up when you are confronted by people with your mediocrity all day every day.

you mean the aaron rodgers was mediocre this yr with the talent not there?
The way Brees was mediocre in 2016 when the talent wasnt there?
The way Matt Ryan was mediocre when his team went thru injuries?
The was Romo was bad when he had Keyshawn Johnson as his #1?

Dont make it out to be a Dak thing, its a player thing. You have to have talent plain and simple. Dallas was ranked near the bottom of the NFL in pass protection the last 2 yrs. You know when they have OL injuries.

Nate Newton was on record over and over this yr saying The OL was not giving him any kind of time. When they read emails about peope like you saying he was mediocre and had no pocket awareness. It came to the point they wouldnt read them kinds of emails email because he started getting annoyed at fans ignorance he said once.

One thing he did criticize about Dak is fumbling.

Let some other team do it then.

    He's not worth big money.

Why is everyone ignoring the mistakes of other teams paying these mediocre QB's a ton of money?

Why is everyone ignoring that the final 4 teams had QB's with rookie contracts or elite vets taking a paycut?

I'm not a fan of Joe Flaccoing our franchise.

Youre take is dump dak and draft a guy and throw him away and go back to the drawing board if he fails too. Thats the absurd and delusional part everybody is talking about with you.

Bottom line is: He's gonna get paid. Many will not be happy with the move, and some will. I don't think we should pay him 25-30 mil money, but nonetheless, it's not my decision. I would not sit here and argue about the move. That's not productive. Be glad and hope that Prescott improves and shows that he's worth the money.

Aaron Rodgers is a great example.

He's the best QB in the league and his big contract handicaps his team so much that they can't even make the playoffs.

The talent around Dak is fine. He's been here 3 years and never thrown 25 TD's. Big money to a QB that can't even throw 25 TD's is just dumb business.

He threw 22 this year and 7 of them came in 2 games. Like come on.

If you are going to give him 27m at this point you might as well wait one more year let him play out his deal and then try to sign him. The franchise Tag for QB's in 2019 is going to be approx 24m which is a small increase over 2018, and it won't be much higher in 2020 when we can tag him if we can't reach a deal. If Dak plays lights out this year then signing him to a 30m+ deal after the season won't and shouldn't be such a big deal, (and if we can't tag him), and he doesn't play well then we may have saved ourselves alot of money by not signing him to the type of deal you suggest he might get now.

He wont get 25-30mil a yr. Not even close. I think he will be between 17-21mil with the way they structure their deals. Thats how they handled Romo always played below the top tier QBs in salary but still go just as much as them because of the restructuring they did and giving him his money as SB.

If we can land a top 5 pick in the next 2 years it would be great.

My take is don't compete against ourselves with Dak.

Let him hit the open market if he won't sign for 18-20 mill. If someone gives him a big contract then let them have him.

You have to play a very specific brand of football with Dak and with all of the teams wanting to be pass happy and not commit as many resources to Oline and RB I don't think Dak will have anyone paying a lot of money for his services. If they do then so be it.

We can easily sign a vet and get the mediocre play he provides while trying to draft. Or just completely tank and get one of these QB's coming up in the next couple of drafts.

I'm fine with 17 mill but he said he doesn't want Tom Brady money which makes me think that he believes he's worth a Kirk Cousins / Alex Smith contract.

Let some other team be the fool with that contract.

Because thats not the Cowboys game in throwing it the way other teams do. They have arguably the best RB in the NFL to take oppurtunities away.

Then if our game is not throwing then don't pay the QB a ton of money.

Yeah it would be great if the cowboys tanked a season and went 4-12 to land a top 5 pick.

I don't know who is available but it would take me about 30 seconds to find a QB who can produce what Dak does.
