It's one pre season game people. Let's not get crazy. With that said... yes he's our qb of the future. I'm Dak deep on that bandwagon and it'll be hard to get me off.

I liked what I saw. That said, I realize, the Cowboys seemed to have installed real plays and the Rams defense had nothing to game plan. It's a much different scenario when they do. The rest of the preseason should be interesting and they should not close the door on a vet backup.

Ok to be excited!

Still, Here are a couple of headlines from other rookie QBs yesterday
"Cardale Jones dazzles in preseason debut"
"Is Jake Ruddock the Lions' QB of the future?"
"Joe Callahan sharp in debut"
"Seahawks liked what they saw in Trevone Boykin"
etc

In last year's 1st preseason game,
Matt McGloin was 10-11, 104 yards, 1 TD, 0 int, 136 QB rating.

Well I was not a Dak fan, but he surprised me in this game.
I want to see if he can do it again, so anxious to see the next game.

If he plays this good all thru PS then I would consider letting him start a few games against the lesser teams,
and give tony the week off.

I say no. You dont draft a guy with a comp 4 with they eye on him being the future at QB.

A comp 4th is a guy you hope can become a high end backup. At that point you are hoping for the next AJ McCarron
Where was Brady drafted?

Come on Dandy.
We should be flat out be elated if he ends up being a legit backup QB for a couple of years before--we dream--he takes over.
In the NFL, "lessor teams" beat better teams every single week.
There are no easy ones for a team with our defense.

If Romo gets banged up (but not totally out) and it's a short week, who knows, maybe it would be a consideration.
I guess never say never.

Well we need to see the next 3 games, this could be a fluke or anomaly but he did look good, and some guys dont need
to "develop" they just need to play.

Did Romo retire yesterday?
Gameover has been on Romo's butt for years now. Almost anyone would trump Tony in his eyes.

Here's some perspective on his QB evaluation skills;
He wanted Jerry to TRADE UP to take Johnny Manziel
He said JM would never be there for us but "one can dream"

I think he may have even said Weeden was better than Romo...but not 100% sure on that one

:lmao:.

More than his legs, more than his arm, more than his performance in this one game, I believe Dak has a chance to become the QB of the future due to his leadership, poise, and natural instincts for the position. During the weeks leading up to the draft, just reading what he'd accomplished in college in the Toughest conference in America with one of the weaker teams had me excited.

Now....while I loved the passes to Dez, Butler, Beasley, and Williams, all throws showing something different, I especially loved the poise in the pocket, seeing and feeling pressure, sliding, stepping up, hanging in for a hit to deliver a throw on time. This wasn't just a rookie dropping passes to open receivers from a clean pocket...he never rushed or let the game get too fast for him.

And as crazy as it sounds, I was most impressed by the screen passes....he had the feel and the natural instincts to position himself perfectly, moving his feet and changing arm angles to deliver those perfectly with the back in the best location to make a play. We saw some things that are very hard to teach even the most gifted passers, and that feel and calmness are more exciting to me than a rocket arm or a perfect pro day.

Actually it was Orton
here is the Gameover quote:
"Im a pig in slop watching Tony puke his guts out. Cant wait until he chokes away the season finale! I just hate when people defend the chubby bum.

Orton >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Romo all day, hundred times on Sundays'

There are just some that will always want him out...Gimme the Ball--one of the more clueless football minds in the entire forum--is another one.
At least Gameover generally has a clue in non-Romo topics.

It will be interesting to see how Dak responds with majority 2nd unit once Romo takes his snaps in the 2nd pre season game. Likely the protection will not be as good as he got vs the Rams and seeing how he does under a lot more pressure from the defense. I don't expect as clean of a game from him but what I want to see is how he reacts to increase pressure in terms of avoiding the big mistakes. Very happy with what I am seeing from Dak

I voted yes before the game and Dak only increased that feeling with the way he played
