I'm reasonably satisfied that there's a fair degree of evidence pointing to Jaylon being active at LB this year.

Mainly, the full extent of his recovery situation is yet to be determined. In Jaylon, I think we'll add a fine MLB.

i am sure he will try to play but it was a wasted pick where he was picked way to soon should of taken a player that could for sure play now

I wasn't a big fan of the pick, but there is no such thing as a player that can "for sure play now".

The top player on the board at 34 after Smith, was the thusfar unimpressive Myles Jack. Hard to think we'd be a lot better off if we'd taken him instead of Smith.

Jerry said "in his mind" so which mind, the pickled one or the 40 year old one....:muttley:.....

With the videos of Jaylon on the cones drills and others, he sure looks like he could be ready to play.
But i always take JJ's words with a shaker of salt....because he said...."in his mind".....well, in my mind I will win the lotto....

so basically it is saying it is his opinion....why can't he just come out and say....Jaylon is ready, he will play....

I hope not because in that case we probably spent a #2 pick on a rookie free agent.
Thing is had they waited they might have got him in a lower round.
Jerry is probably embarrassed by the fact it looks like maybe his leg wont heal up like they thought it would.
Heck he thought Jaylon would play in 2016 .
And healed or not, they will probably play him in 2017

Smith's progress is definitely encouraging; at this point he's already one of the better athletes on the team, as I've previously opined.

He'll get to 95% almost certainly, and he'll still have the rookie on-field learning curve to overcome -- coverages, reads, chemistry, etc.

If he gets to 100%......................OMG (if Lee stays healthy).
These words of wisdom bear repeating.

All of this is completely wrong.

His leg is progressing exactly as the Cowboys thought it would.

He was a long shot to play last season and everyone said that.

Though it did turn out he could have played againt GB if not on IR.

The only person I will give credibility to about Jaylon Smith is his doctor.

I am no doctor - or even an orderly - but it seems as if we are all looking for instant coffee. Most recoveries from injuries aren’t like that. Seems to be on the right track. Let us hope that is the case.
There has to be concern because it has been over a year since the injury. Most predictions were 6 to 8 months.

The videos of him make it appear that he could play with the brace and there are claims that players have played with that type of brace, but again he does not seem to have progressed at the expected rate in his recovery.

Jerry talks and literally says nothing.

God I wish he'd just stay away from the media.
It's probably better that way. When he does say something definite, it's often not really accurate. I don't think Jerry is that involved in the day to day operations of the team anymore Jerry had a bit of a screw up early in the season where he definitively said that a player was getting and MRI. The same day the training staff was directly quoted as saying that player did not have an MRI. Jerry said it on the radio and he came back on that radio show to clear it up and was probably the most angry that I've heard him.

I think the NFL Network needs a 3 hour special on Jaylon's nerve and have a panel to discuss it. I propose that the panel consist of Jerry Jones in the role of snake oil salesman, Emmitt Smith serving as the "wordsmith", Michael Irvin as the motivator, and Ray Lewis because that man is crazy. He is so crazy that he would probably pull a gun on Jaylon to encourage him to make the nerve regenerate faster.

Jaylon of course would be the star of the show but would by rule not be able to speak, but could communicate by twitter. His foot could be wrapped with a blanket to create drama over whether he is wearing the brace or not.

I would add Steve Young to the panel but would not allow him to speak at all because he is such an *******. I would seat him next to Emmitt so that he could enjoy all of Emmitt's expansive vocabulary along with whatever new words Emmitt wanted to create on the spot.

Hilarious but would rather see Joe Theismann instead of Steve Young.:lmao:

The doctor who performed the procedure said 9-15 months, everyone else's estimates don't mean anything

Great point.

Cooper agreed Smith probably will take a “redshirt” year in 2016, noting that once a nerve injury is discovered, it usually takes around nine to 15 months to fully recover. He also said he knows of high school and college football players who have played with a foot-drop, “and it’s even possible that Jaylon’s good enough to play in the NFL if he doesn’t get his nerve function back.

“Worst-case scenario, there are surgeries, there are tendon transfers you can do to hold the foot up,” Cooper said. “Best-case scenario is he gets all his strength back. And then in between would be that he gets a lot of it back or some of it back.”

Ray Lewis would shoot kill Jaylon, toss the gun to Irvin and jump in his Limo. Irvin will end up in jail and Ray Lewis will be selected for the Hall of Fame the next day.

If his leg had progressed as they thought it would, he would have been out of the brace 2-3 months ago and he would be wrapping up all the necessary rehab and physical therapy putting him on track to fully participate in all offseason activities with full control of his foot.

I don't buy any talk of him playing with the brace. You just don't put players on the field in the NFL who aren't fully healthy or who can't control a vital part of their body.
