Maybe it's time for fans to just stop asking the cowboys to draft defensive tackles if we've already acknowledged that they don't know how to do it and they're just going to cut them. Just accept the incompetence. I'm at the point where I wish they would just pull people off the street instead of wasting draft picks on defensive tackles when they actually know how to draft at other positions.
That's a great idea, but then they'd have to shell out money in free agency.
They can draft what they are good at and bring in hired guns for the D line.

That cornerback group going be toast to Tatar the season. Diggs coming off of acl tear. Lewis in high volume/increase role is never been a good thing for the cowboys. Rookie starting on the outside….. game day thread going litty

Based on waiver claims, it appears we should have cut CJ Goodwin, Chuma Edoga (IR) and Tyrus Wheat. Wheat is the only one of those who could have been claimed, but I'd personally rather have Scott, Wood and Rogers than him. Goodwin could have gone on the PS to start the season.

I like the idea. The problem is when they pay big money to defensive tackles they just end up getting a bust. Who were those two big names a couple of years ago?

I know he’s never healthy, I would pick up Caleb Farley on the PS

You are probably thinking of Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy. Neither received big money to come here because they were basically washed. McCoy did sign a three-year, $18 million deal but it contained an injury waiver because they knew there was a good chance his tendon would rupture. This was a pre-existing concern and he ended up making a total of $3 million (signing bonus) because of it.

I don't understand why they cut DT Justin Rogers? He looked way better than Mazi during training camp and throughout preseason. I hope no other team picks up Justin Rogers. This team keeps making the same dumb mistakes when it concerns talented late round big DTs. They did it with Ridgeway and now did it with Rogers.
Same here AC, I was surprised about Rogers too. I read he was being picked up for the practice squad for the Bengals. I guess the Cowboys liked the older vets they picked up better.

Yeah, but it's not big money for a DT, especially a DT of his former caliber. Dallas was hunting a bargain as always and it did not turn out the way they wanted, but it turned out fairly typical.

DL is a concern. Starters will be ok but when the backups rotate in, it could get ugly. CB depth isn't great, would have looked better with gilmore. Hopefully they hold up till bland is back

Spann-Ford did not play very well in camp/preseason. Improved some in the last preseason game. He made the team because of his upside.

I'm super concerned about the depth at corner. literally need a VET presence there,

Diggs off major injury, bland out etc,

so the nickel and dime are not diluted. thats high risk IMHO. not even a true vet cb on the PS.. swing tackle also makes me nervous.

Defense looks super thin
only at corner i don't see a problem anywhere else , they literally going to be pulling players off the practice squad to be on the active roster when needed. i think this year's depth and team on D look better than last year, other than Corner,

Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about wide receiver Brandon cooks is actually pretty damn good and another year in this offense he's had a great camp, he's a great #2,and right now Turpin and tolbert taking wr3 snaps, look good, but man the depth there's some guys on this team that can turn in the next young Michael Gallup like fournay,

you're trying to tell me you need big names or you think having 3 deep made up of great players at every position is what all teams have everyone but Dallas?, are you kidding me you might want to get off some of that...

yes, i give you the cornerback but that just happened and this roster not finished. id lie to see vet brought in there but bland will be back by game 5-6..not out for the year.

How about before all this dread and the sky is falling and we're have holes all over the place why don't we watch the first month of the season we can judge this by how games are played won or lost we can see what this real team is made-up of... And like they did in 2018 when they saw the wide receiver by committee wasn't working they went out and got amari Cooper they can do this all the way up to the trade deadline. We are fine at wide receiver not many people have acd lamb on their team let alone a Brandon cooks at #2.. Brandon cooks didn't get enough looks and enough targets last year because CD lamb was just tearing up the league and I don't think Mike McCarthy knew how to distribute the ball, but this is a better wide receiver core than you are giving it credit for..

Gallup was a liability last year so I believe it's an upgrade at wide receiver three if Mike McCarthy can get off his big **** and get the ball to Turpin and get the ball distributed to some of other players before Game 6 before we absolutely need to this office is going into year two more of its installed and I believe that it's gonna be a lot better than you think..
Cooks is not a "great #2". He is a pretty good/better than average #2. Big difference. I have high hopes for Tolbert, but again, he's a decent #3 and no more than that at this point.
IMO, our WRs are fine. But that is because of having Lamb at the top

Yeah, that rookie is going to have to play. As far as swing tackle, Asim is it. He’s young but has showed some talent.
