I don't understand Edoga. They could have put two guys directly onto IR. Why didn't they put both Bland and he right onto IR? Is there a difference in the rule (can come back earlier?) if they do it this way?

You can call him up three games in a row before you have to make a decision. Usually by that time, you've had an injury that opens up a spot ... or you put multiple backups you can call up before having to make that decision. Last year, we were doing that at backup center before deciding to sign Hoffman to the 53.
Congratulations to Hoffman for making the final 53. Young man has come a long ways

I don't understand why they cut DT Justin Rogers? He looked way better than Mazi during training camp and throughout preseason. I hope no other team picks up Justin Rogers. This team keeps making the same dumb mistakes when it concerns talented late round big DTs. They did it with Ridgeway and now did it with Rogers.
That was the only cut that pissed me off a little bit. I guess drafting him was just a virtue signal. :(

Did you watch training camp and preseason games? You have to be blind if you didn't notice which of the two (Rogers or Mazi) performed better.
I understand them keeping Mazi because he was the first round pick and they don't want to give up on him too soon. But they still screwed up cutting Rogers. We didn't need for tight ends.

you mentioned two people who could have biases (broaddus is known for it). I mentioned an impartial website. You can choose to believe what you want. That's what cz does best anyway.
I haven't heard anyone reporting that he was having a great training camp. Usually when you're having a great training camp they report that.

I honestly don't know what those PFF clowns look at sometimes. John Ridgeway had better stats as a backup DT the past 2 years than Jonathan Hankins did for us, yet Ridgeway received a 39 PFF grade while Hankins received a 51.8 PFF grade...

I wonder if consistently cutting our rookie defensive tackles might have something to do with our poor run defense......... No those two things can't be related.

Surprised we kept Wheat over Lawson. That's a depth spot that needs to be strengthened.
I still don’t think he’s long for the roster but I thought wheat looked pretty active last game

Not sure he’s worse than Lawson not sure either stays on roster

Do not be so quick to defend all of the decisions this team makes, especially at the NT position.

Go to the 25:49 minute mark and watch through the 28:20 minute mark. Listen closely to what Bryan Broaddus and Voch Lombardi are saying when talking about Justin Rogers, Mazi Smith and the 2 very old farts the Cowboys brought in the past 1+ week and why they kept who they kept while cutting the better Justin Rogers...

That video is your smoking gun? Like I said, you just have to be right so I'll let you have it. Enjoy

A few things significantly stand out.

1. It's wild to take one look at that roster in its totality and also realize we are pretty tightly strapped to the cap. It's significantly worse than the last 3 seasons. There is a ton of cheap UDFA labor here (the Stephen special).

2. The RB position is a complete dumpster fire. I'm aware that in the cap era that's not a spot where you want to allocate significant dollars, but an honest effort from the FO here could have made a difference. It's going to be very difficult to win games against good opponents when Dak is dropping back 45 times a game. Hope Rico and Deuce come to play, but hope isn't a strategy.

3. Where are the pass rushers? For a defense that makes their nut getting after the QB and forcing turnovers, seems like a significant downgrade. I know they love the position flex of some of these DL, but I just don't see it yet. What I am seeing is a team not sold on last year's first round pick, and are using valuable roster spots on journeymen DL that can and should do his job better.

4. Safety group looks great. I have high hopes for the receiver group as well. I think the OL could turn out nice if a lot of things go right.

5. Incredible group of specialists, but the Goodwin experiment should have been over in 2021.
We will see how the young players pan out but I am surprised how thin the roster is and the clear downgrade of a few position groups from last year. It is really apparent.

I guess the poor 23 draft so far and all the snaps they lost via free agency stand out and really put us in a bad spot.

Tough place to be trying to come tend when you may have the worst D tackles in the league. Also, the pass rush depth is greatly diminished. Lawrence is good but sooner or later he will lose a step. It better not be this year because we have one rusher who scares teams. The lack of rush paired with the lack of talent on the Dline could. Be a huge factor this year.

The reason they didn't do it is because if they do it that way it counts as two spots. If they wait 24 hours then it doesn't. They only get eight spots. The one they used for bland will count as two. So now they only have six.
Explain what you mean by counting as two spots. I didn't see the rule stating that if you put a guy on the "IR to return" list on cut down day it counted as two spots against your eight spots
