Cowboys have a very high rate of success with their first round picks. Even trading down and still getting their guy and another player.
I know I’m talking about taking a running back or a tight end when you don’t need one

9 may have the Cowboys outside looking in.

You have to hope 2 QBs go (Ward, Sanders), a 3rd would be amazing.

Travis Hunter WR/CB Colorado
Mason Graham DT Michigan
Will Campbell T LSU
Kelvin Banks T Texas
Abdul Carter Edge Penn State
Tetairoa McMillan WR Arizona
Will Johnson CB Michigan

The easy pick (this Front Office is so lazy) will be Ashton Jeanty.

They do? I think it's pretty consistent with the league average. The fans overrate this team's drafting.

We are NOT winning another game. It's No. 4 overall at worst.
That's ridiculous to say in this day and age in the NFL you're gonna probably win two to three more games you're not gonna want to but act like Carolina the giants are you not just gonna step up and beat one of the guys in NFC East look how we played if we had Prescott we finally looked pretty good in the 1st against the eagles anybody is beatable just look around it doesn't matter you think we're not gonna win another one is just being delusional I don't know where you've been but they will win probably two more games but I'm giving them a third one'cause who knows who's gonna try to tank works at the end of the year but who not gonna care and they're gonna pull their players at the last game literally that's what goes on and that's what's gonna happen we're winning five to six games whether you like it or not I don't think they're gonna purposely organically lose for the draft but still that should get us in the top 10 if not right outside the top five...

Hunter is one of the better picks

I don't know why you think he's not I mean one way or the other he's gonna be good at one of those two positions he can play that'll be up to the coaching staff I don't think he would be a bad pick at all he'd be one of the top three on my board that you would take that high and I can tell you who wouldn't be even though he'd be a great addition to this team, it's a running back that high, to me would be a waste especially one with his kind of mileage that he has had in college he reminds me of Ezekiel Elliott was all that college team had and when they were in the college playoffs they rode his butt into the ground and he had four good years here... I would be gun shy on taking a running back that high regardless of if we need one that bad..Jeanty high risk in that part of the first, I think there's plenty in the second round but hunter how is that a bad pick why is that just a straight note that would be one of the best picks at that position in the draft say between 5:00 and 10:00...

But I for sure would have any position best player on the board but hunter would be almost anyone's best pick on the board and I don't know why you don't see that...

Actually it is nice.
It's not nice while it's happening happen to watch these games like this 'cause I'm gonna watch most of them is excruciating to get through the rest of this after the long offseason the very long preseason times of camp around here

now have to get through November December January and February of watching game before the drafts even talked about truly like truthfully way talking about the draft too early so much is gonna change between now and then but this is just painful so no it's not nice at all it will be nice if they pick the right players and those players turn out to be well we won't even know that until November of next year on how that draft crop turned out like literally this is painful bro not nice at all there is no word that fits anywhere around the word nice it's not even nice adjacent

that's because this guy doesn't understand the NFL they're gonna be teams that you can be in this team I know Jerry and I know Mike McCarthy are not gonna just lay down I think we're gonna win at least two more games if not 3 'cause we have some bad teams coming up as well and you never know when other teams are gonna pull their players at the end of the year so yeah I think they're gonna at least be two more wins but possibly 3

It's going to be fantastic in April. Did you like the 3 Super Bowl wins in the 90's or do you just remember the 1 and 15 year? I'm thrilled that we might have our best drafting position since 1991. I am already more than 40 deep on my draft board.

Yes they do.

Yes there were a couple of clunkers but the Cowboys are near the top in success rate with their first pick.

Fans don't overrate this teams drafting. The ones who think the Cowboys are average or bad drafters don't realize how other teams make bad draft picks also. They feel like every team is killing it in the draft and because every Cowboys pick isn't a pro bowler then the Cowboys are a bad drafting team. Fans don't overrate the Cowboys they over rate other teams.

No it won't let let me explain what's gonna happen the fans are gonna have a list of what they want at what point they want them and when they don't pick them where they want them or how they want them or the names they want we'll be doing the same thing on draft day very disappointed and angry and then even if they get a solid group of players then they're gonna be judging them in camp every mistake they make every drop they have every missed tackle and then in preseason we're gonna say they're all busts and then when we see the first half of the season like this year we're gonna say that need to start over 'cause the draft ....st 'cause that's what this place does..

I'm sorry but apparently you've missed something around here no one will ever be happy at all 'cause if it doesn't fit there 100% narrative on their list and their rankings they will be having a problem with it... It's not the best drafting position since 1991 we had this in 2016 because of 2015 and it's much like 2020 we'll have a good draft area and we'll get a good player or two or three but it's not anything different than when you took Ezekiel Elliott nobody was happy remember they wanted Ramsey and they thought in a perfect world Henry would have still been there had the whole top of the draft been changed by us passing on Elliot and it's probably not true Henry might not have been there when we picked but I still remember people are complaining about it now and we have the exact drop position and #4 if you think we're gonna be higher than four that's great but they used it on a running back and they might again and it might be the right choice picking Jeanty.. I don't think they should I think they need to go for the best player available and that's at any position but quarterback but I'm putting running back last on that list so if there's a better player like hunter available or pass rusher or wide receiver I'm taking them any DBA defensive tackle anything at the top of the first two rounds we can get a running back in the second or third round this is a deep draft but people are gonna be upset this is gonna be 2016 all over again where no one like the Ezekiel Elliott pick as far as where they picked him and he gave us 4 great years...

I mean when a row of moderators I think it was big dog literally just said no to hunter they didn't want him at the top of the first round I mean see he's already gonna be upset that'd be a great pick.. So this place will have an issue no matter what we can get a time machine and go back in pick Tom Brady knowing what the future is gonna be and people would complain about it..

At the time the win was awesome.

Now that we see where this season is going, it’s unfortunate they managed to win that one since we’re in the hunt for a top-5 or top-10 pick.

Two things can be true at the same time.
There’s fans that think the Cowboys would have been better off missing the playoffs last season and getting a higher pick than going one and done. I enjoy watching the Cowboys win games and staying contention than having to play out a season with nothing but a high draft pick to look forward. The type of season the team is having is no fun to watch and a top 10 pick doesn’t guarantee a good player. I enjoy watching the Cowboys compete in the playoffs regardless if it leads to an early exit.

Seems like you're still rooting with your heart.

First round hit rates are typically higher. The players tend to be proven commodities. The OL hit rate in the 1st round, league-wide, is higher than most positions.

Tyler Guyton is promising. Can't call him a hit yet, but I'm hopeful.

They passed on Micah at 10. The Eagles wanted D. Smith badly and bailed them out. They weren't even sure they wanted to take him at 12 but he was the clear BPA. They, along with everyone else, had no idea he would be the impactful pass rusher he ended up.

CeeDee was extremely lucky to be there at 17. They did not expect him to be there. They even told you that they still strongly considered taking K'Lavon Chaisson and even Trevon Diggs at 17 (he went 51st) before finally not looking a gift horse in the mouth and taking Lamb.

LVE had serious medical red flags. Several teams had him completely off the board. Guess what? His entire career was sidetracked by injuries.

Zeke was over drafted and then overpaid.

Travis Frederick was a very good pick, and they received a ton of criticism for it. They nailed this one.

The 2023 draft, minus Overshown, is a disaster. You can't claim to be a great drafting team and pretend you didn't completely mess the bed in 2023.

They currently have a 1% chance of making the playoffs according to most analytics sites.

This team is not in the hunt.

If they were underperforming and something like 5-5 and slugging it out for 9-10 wins and the last wildcard I’d still be all in on them winning.

I would argue about Zeke being overdrafted; he certainly was a top if not the top back in the NFL for his first three seasons.
without that stupid suspension he probably leads the NFL in rushing two straight years
You look at the history of RBs taken top five and he is right in there above average for production

Of course they’re not in the hunt. However, unlike you I don’t regret the win over the Steelers. You might be regretting any of the wins we’ve had this season so it moves us closer to the number one overall pick. Sorry, but I’m not that type of fan. I want to see the team win games and improve, rather than continue this miserable season.
