I think that's a reason why they're currently talking to so many DE's.

Bowen's asking price may just be too high.

NE already has Wilfork at NT, and I think Haynesworth's main problem with the 3-4 is that he wanted to be a pass rusher not a space-eater. If they can motivate big fat Al, he might be pretty good at DE next to Wilfork.

The Bears are reportedly interested in free agent DE Stephen Bowen.

Multiple league sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times that Bowen could "surprise" casual football fans with his eventual contract, which could take the money-conscious Bears out of the mix. While the report sounds agent-driven, Bowen is young, productive, and versatile.
