Minnesota has a #1 that is an UDFA and a #2 that was a 5th round pick and both are much better than Dez.

The two receivers we signed didn’t have 7 TDs between them last year. They’ve had 7 TDs between them the past TWO years. A 7 TD year was an average year for Dez who’s capable of double digit TDs every year in the right system. Dak is going to have to improve as a passer because all our receivers numbers went down last season. It’s going to be difficult for the receivers we brought in to produce much more than they have the past couple of years with the system we run. Not having a real threat at WR is going to hurt us.

We have to hope we can find a real threat in the draft and they make an impact as a rookie or it could be a rough 2018 season, especially if we lose Zeke to an injury. We depend far too much on the run and defenses are going to look to load the box and stop it. Our OL isn’t what it used to be. What the staff has collectively decided to do the past 20+ years hasn’t worked. The staff is going to collectively be holding their breath during the 2018 season hoping this move doesn’t blow up in their face.
You're talking as if Dez is in his prime and that's far from the truth. Otherwise he would still be here and the antics and drama would be worth it like it was from 2012-2014. He's not the same player.
I'm not concerned with TDs now matter how you spin it. You can keep going on and on, but the team will pick up the scoring elsewhere. This has become a run first team when used correctly.
Last season we had a new RT, a LT who played injured and missed games and a LG that was a screen door. They will be better this season.

I don't care about how exciting he was throwing up his branded X. If the staff collectively decided to cut him then he wasn't worth the headache making No. 1 WR money and not producing like one.

Fans loved seeing him throw up that X. Dez put a lot of butts the seats. When you look at the Cowboys once you get past Zeke there’s not many players on this team that excite anyone.

I’m talking as if Dez is this still a good player and he is. Part of the reason his numbers have declined is the QB situation and the system the Cowboys run. I like Dak but he has to get better as a passer. Him tossing 22 TDs a year isn’t going to get it done. This team needs more balance between the pass and the run. We can’t just depend on banging the run every week. Without Zeke last year we were horrible. We must develop a better passing game and that’s going to be difficult with the receivers we currently have. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on Dak in 2018. If he can’t make it work with the receivers we put around him, he’s going to be looked at as the problem and the team could very well be looking for his replacement next April.

I'm sure the vast majority of fans loved and supported Dez throwing up the X. I changed my tune last season. Multiple games and examples of brain dead mistakes and decisions. Then came the Seattle game. That bs trumps how exciting he is. So you can carry on about Dez still being good, but that's not what he was paid to do. Blame the QB all you want. If you can't admit to the issues on the offense besides JUST Dak, there's no use having a discussion because your mind is made up and likely we'll hear a lot more "Dez has the TD record, is great in the red-zone, He needs a back should fad, give him a jump ball, needs a different system, needs a better Qb." blah blah blah.

Some of the blame was on Dez and some of it was on Dak, the film study shows that. Don’t even think about spinning that I’m putting it all on Dak. Dez was making the most money of the receivers and even though everyone’s numbers dropped he took the fall, despite being the best receiver we had. I’ve given my opinion. End of discussion

Took the fall for his meltdowns. As he should. And now we are seeing more clearly the kind of person he is. Especially to his loyal fans. I'll give you Dezbians credit, you guys don't fold.

No doubt that Dez had a set of skills that can’t be replaced by a normal WR. His skills were unique for the red zone. Replaceable yes but not by just any WR.

Look at it this way, things have changed compared to the 5 to 7 years of losing and eight and eight seasons.

We used to go out and make big splashes in free agency, we used to hang onto players well past their productive prime. I’m not lumping everyone into one category, because we had the same arguments over keeping Demarcus Ware, Tony Romo, Joey Galloway, Roy Wiliams, Marion Barber, Jay Ratliff etc......

Regardless if you want to keep Dez or not, The statistics point To his utility diminishing, and it really doesn’t matter if it’s the quarterback’s fault or not. We don’t have another quarterback who’s going to come in and make Dez as good as he was with Tony.

He is a depreciating asset as the team is currently constructed. He is a ton against the cap..... and Dak- with a limited outside passing game has already taken us to a 13 win season.

Last year was about Z’s suspension and nothing else......maybe Tryon’s Injury too.

As much as Jerry Jones annoys me, and Jason Garrett seems like a deer in the headlights standing there clapping and drooling, it looks like we are starting to assemble a team with some defensive identity as well as getting back to our offensive form of two seasons ago.

That gives me a reason for optimism.

This is a gigantic mistake...... should have learned from DWare....... could have saved almost as much with a simple restructure

He could have been traded at worst....he will sign elsewhere quickly and he will play for 5-6 more years like ABoldin
You do realize this will be on record so when you look like a fool you can't crawl away

What Dez does especially in the redzone on fades and jump balls can’t be replaced. He’s scored 14 TDs the past two seasons, those are going to be hard to replace. While Dez was putting up 14 TDs the past two seasons with a young QB, Hurns and Thompson combined for only 7 TDs. There’s no guarantees either one of those receivers are going to fit in and have chemistry with Dak. The Cowboys wanted to get rid of sideline drama when they cut TO after the 08 season. Had Miles Austin not emerged in 09 that season would have gone nowhere. The Cowboys are banking on Hurns or someone else to step up and have a Miles Austin type season. When Austin’s production began to decline after the 09 season the Cowboys ended up missing the playoffs the next four straight years. Cutting TO didn’t make the team.

You don’t get a better cutting talented players and replacing them with less talented players. There’s not a receiver on the team that’s going to put fear in anyone so every week the Cowboys will see eight in the box to stop Zeke and force Dak and this average receiving corp to beat them. We better hope we come up a receiver in the draft that develops into a dynamic receiver. Despite Dez’s declining numbers he was an exciting player who brought energy to the team and the fans. Cutting Ware was a mistake and cutting Dez could turn out to be an even bigger mistake.

So you say the new receivers might not mesh with Prescott and the inference is Bryant did? I guess he did if you want to count all of the drops that earned him the most in the league. All those upset with Bryant being cut need to stop thinking Bryant is the pre 2014 Bryant and realize Bryant's numbers have dwindled the past 3 years except the number of drops which has risen but that's a bad thing.

We have no idea if the new receivers are going to click in this offense and with Dak. Anytime you add players from another team there’s no guarantees they’re going to fit in. All our receivers numbers dwindled last season. Say what you will but Dez led all our receivers in every statistical category last season.

Not a mistake, Dez is not the best nor the worst. Someone different will begin a new chapter as a Cowboy. Looking forward to seeing new lineup.

Be that as it may, Bryant's production the past 2 seasons HAS NOT been anywhere close to the cost of the cap hit he had and is no longer worth a cap hit of 16.5 mil for 2018 and 2019 if he was still here. You need to stop seeing Bryant as the receiver he was prior to 2015 and see those numbers he has had since no long warrants the cost of keeping him.
