Yeah, pretty sure Callahan left here on poor terms.

I think Jerry either stripped him of play calling or denied him a lateral interview. Or maybe both. It's a shame the way that moron holds on to coaches forever and yet still somehow let's a guy like this go too soon. I think Eberflus is another one.

There’s only one thing for certain….it’ll be someone who no one else is looking to hire.

Not trying to be funny. Why would someone work as HC in Dallas?

-Authority clipped from beginning
-Constantly undermined by Jerry
-FO doesn’t sign key players
-Jerry wants to be told about game plans
-Players have direct line to Jerry
-Jerry will give halftime speech if he wants
-Media to Jerry for comments before you
-Can’t pick your entire staff
-It’s about entertainment, not football
-You’re eventually scapegoated
-Practice disturbed by helicopter landing
-Practice disturbed by fan tours

What am I forgetting? No one with options will come here. The hire will be someone who no one else would bother with. He can’t get away Zimmer, so…Rex Ryan is the guy. That’ll make some headlines for a while, and Jerry will take that grab.

You're forgetting team stripped of talent and owner unwilling to participate in free agency.

Still, the appeal of winning in Dallas is a big deal. Plus Jerry probably sells the hell out of it, and these guys don't know how deep they are until real football starts and Jerry begins acting like a fool on their watch.

I wouldn't be upset at the idea of Callahan. He set up our oline well and I believe they slowly got worse after he left. That said, I don't know he can have the same impact as HC. Also, if memory serves I think Jerry burned that bridge.
What I like about Callahan is players said would practice plays over 100 times if needed until they got it right. Love the way he stood up to Jerry and Garrett.

It will be Jon Gruden.
"Spider 2 Y Banana" will be the signature play that helps Dallas FINALLY defeat the 49ers, or not.

Jerry doesn't hire up and coming coaches.

I would hire Mike Vrabel as Head Coach and bring in Ben Johnson as Asst. Head Coach/O-Coordinator...if that were possible. Keep Al Harris as co-D-Coordinator/D-Backs and Lunda Wells as TEs Coach as well.

Cowboys need tough, aggressive and scheming coaches on this team.
Ben Johnson’s representatives won’t even take a call from the Dallas Cowboys. And Jerry Jones won’t dare contact any of the leading HC candidates anyway because he does not want to have to explain why a potential candidate chose to join a franchise other than the Dallas Cowboys.

The next Cowboys head coach will be someone no other team would consider and/or an experienced head coach teams no longer want.

Why Harris? D-backs look bad and didn’t he say he never help set the defensive scheme/game plans? I know he gets a lot of love on this board and trying to understand what he has done.

I don't like much of the aforementioned hc candidates.

And I'd think it's gonna be a very reputable offensive to continue highest paid qb in nfl

Well it is indeed an NFL HC opportunity, of which there are only 32 spots.

There will be several lined up for it despite the circumstances, but they won’t include a hot coordinator like Ben Johnson, who is going to have his share of offers.

In the past, Jerry has boasted of talking Sean Payton out of going to Oakland (I think that was mostly Parcells but whatever), or Jason Garrett to Baltimore because of how the wrong fit could cause you to never get another shot. (Imagine if Baltimore hired Garrett instead of Harbaugh lol)

I’d have to think whoever is advising todays up and comers would say the same about todays Dallas Cowboys in a similar fashion.

It’s not even about losing. This franchise is rotten from the core and the worst is in the immediate future. All for one man’s ego. Couple that with delusion and here we are.

Jerry should just replace the star on the helmets with an image of his head. Why not?

I would take Callahan in a heartbeat......Sadly....Jerry pissed him off....and he took his show down the road. Jerry would have to be 6 feet under for him to come back......even then....I'm pretty sure that bridge was burned beyond rebuilding.

My top picks

** Belichick
** Arron Glenn
** Vrabel

Wildcard........Bill Callhan
Don't laugh, no coach knows the trenches as well as this guy. He's the Andy Reid, Shanahan or Belichick of OLine coaches. Want a coach to fix the run on both sides of the ball, this is your guy.

The Dallas Cowboys still have at least 11 games left in their 2024 season. The mood, however, is pretty grim as the club exits their bye week. Sitting at 3-3, the club will return to the safety of the road for their next contest, a remarkable turnabout from how things have been the last two seasons. Somehow, the pressure of being at home has become too much for the organization, falling woefully behind in four contests (dating back to the wild-card game) and only making one of them competitive.

Honorable Mentions:

Dan Pritchard, Cincinnati Bengals OC
Ryan Grubb, Seattle Seahawks OC
Adam Stenovich, Green Bay Packers OC
Ejiro Evero, Carolina Panthers, DC
Another "YES" man or a guy like Belichick looking for a last massive payout.
