No, he's not... indeed, nobody is more personally responsible for the Skins' record over these past 3 years than Gibbs is... he has consistently made the most curious personnel decisions, and has failed to make Danny Boy recognize that his reckless throwing of money at name free agents has left the team with an extreme lack of depth...

He has also been pretty bad as an in-game coach, especially in the area of clock control...

Gibbs has his stamp all over this team, and it's not a pretty picture...

I'm having hard time understanding why Theebs thinks so highly of Gibbs Part II after witnessing complete ineptness for 2 1/2 of the past 3 years coaching. Gibbs may have had success in the 80's (although 2 of his SB's are astericked by strike years) but that is not translating to today's NFL. HE has made poor personnel decisions, poor preparation of players and poor in-game management decisions.

To borrow a Parcell's euphemism "You are what your record says you are" for gibbs, he is 21-27 coach, i.e., 438 winning percentage - translation he is a loser the second time around.

One thing's for sure-NEVER underestimate a Joe Gibbs team, under no circumstances, when they're just barely hanging onto a lifeline.

Sure-they have a few holes now, but they should be fine nonetheless.

Gibbs was also a master at stealing draft picks away from other teams. Remember getting Oakland's high #1 for a struggling Jay Schroeder, and then using it to draft a stud guard(Jim Lachey), while using the other #1 to trade for Wilbur Marshall?

Why he can't do that now is mystifying.

Here is a more important stat, you have had 1 winnning season in gibbs 3 years, 2 winning seasons since 2000. Your offensive and defensive lines are old.

You have just as much to worry about as us and the giants. All 3 of the teams can have seasons that go in any direction.

This you havent won a playoff game since 96 is ridiculous, skins fans wouldnt even know that if espn didnt tell you every time they talk about us.

Why stop at 10 years? If we are playing this foolish game, then we have won 3 superbowls and played in 4 nfc championships since you have....

those stats are all silly and mean nothing for these teams. However, skins fans should definitely not be bringing that stat up.

Gibbs IS a HOF no questioning that so I agree with you.

His Front office has been far from great so no arguing that.

Vinny "Bug Eyes" Cerrato is a joke, so no arguing that.

However You need to realize some things.

Danny may be a guy that has used the sign big name FAs like trading football cards mentality. But his method of taking FA over Draft picks was taken from his idol...Joe Gibbs.

Joe Gibbs used to do the very same thing, except for the overpaying aspect, he would even take some older players. Danny emulated that but had a lesser degree of evaluating the talent.

Also needs to be noted. Joe Gibbs is officially in charge of football operations with the Skins since he came back. So Danny, as owner and signer of checks, may have final say he pretty much let's Gibbs decide one way or the other. He respects Gibbs that much because Gibbs was his idol as a long time skins fan.

Gibbs is far from being spotless in this Commanders mess. He may not be 100% of the problem but he sure is not just 5% of the problem either.

They've managed three winning seasons IIRC. They went 8-7-1 in 1997 and 10-6 in 1999 and 2005. They still suck though.
