His selfish team restricting 4 year contract is a major reason this team was hamstrung in the cap.

Prescott refused to give more years in the last contract so the team could at least absorb and keep players and weapons to get you passed the divisional round.

He did this so he could get a second bite at the Apple. Bravo Dak. Thanks!

Would Amari Cooper been around still? Would they have gone after other free agents?

Be a man Dak! You could not get to the Super Bowl with your arm and interceptions.

Sign a 7 year extension give the team some room to help you because you need it.
You want to extend someone you just called selfish?

Stupid thread. Dak earned the contract. Someone was going to give him that money. Top 10 quarterback under the age of 30 at the time of signing.
A stupid team was going to give him that money, yes. Unfortunately, that was predictably us. And top ten is a comical untruth.

No, don’t sign any extension and “get out of dodge”

I don’t rate Dak by the opinions of this board. I go by what NFL football executives, coaches and GMs say. Dak is a top 10 quarterback especially after the 2020 season before he signed the contract.

You will realize Dak has had seasons of more INTs than TDs when you look at the play by play sections on the profootballreference.com site. The bronco's blow out in 2021. Before stat padding Dak was 11 of 29 with under 100 yards passing along with 1 INT, there are countless games with a similar story. 30-0 with under 5:00 minutes left then Dak gets a few TD's plus 200 yards in the air, looks like an all pro.

People forget about the Drew Henson days. Dallas had no one else. Having a top 5 QB vs top 10 is a world of difference. Dak needs the weapons. Philly is proving today how important those are in the playoffs.

Utter nonsense. He is a garbage stat specialist who has never had a good game against a good team in a meaningful game.

He is THE problem on the roster. He's why they lose.

It remains to be seen how that next contract works out for him. However, Cowboys wanted a 5 year deal to spread out cap hits, they technically got something like that with the dummy years of the contract. They could take 20 million of base salary this year and spread it out across 2024, 2025, 2026. The cap hits would then roughly be 59 million in 2024, then 28 million in 2025, and 10 million in 2026. That would likely happen again in 2024, but the problem is you're eventually paying a lot of money when he would technically be off contract.

Cowboys should look to Zeke, Lawrence, Smith, and Gallup contracts first.

ahhh, hmmm, this year his cap hit was 19M. and last year it was 17M....so what happened to the cap and all the great players we wanted to sign in the past 2 years?

btw, we could have still kept Cooper and still be under the cap this year....hmmm, why didn't we.

and which player outside of brady says, give me less money...please give me less money?

facts are Jerry had the chance to walk away. could have not tagged Dak. could have not extend a contract. which FAs in dallas would have put us over the top? who are the players we could have signed last two years and with a QB that had less than 10% of cap hit, we didn't?
We were 30th in total spending, preparing for the massive cap hits that are coming. $49.1m and $52.1m the next two seasons fwiw.

Only Arlington Jonesboys fans would blame a QB for a contract. Who is your owner and General Manager?

Nothing will change until a GM does not have the last name Jones and is not related to John "Pat" Jones.

so they decided not to sign anyone, decided not to make a run at superbowl because they worried about future? perhaps they could redo and extend contracts and reduce the cap hit!? just a thought....its what everyone does.
