Dak Better Not Be A One Year Wonder

I don't think he'll be a 1-year-wonder, but I fully expect an 8-8 season next year. Our defense isn't going to get turned around in one offseason, and Garrett isn't capable of 2 winning seasons in a row.

Let's say we go 8-8 while Romo is going to the SB with another team.

Imagine this board at that point, and it would actually be well founded since we got nothing for him.

Quick, name the last one year wonder at QB in the league? Who stayed with his current team, kept his top RB, top 3 targets and 80% of his Oline and struggled. Uh yeah, can't think of one. Now, If injuries happen there is a chance people will think he's struggling, but, I'd put money on it Dak I'd more comfortable and more successful next year.

I disagree. I believe 100% in Dak I don't think he is a fluke I think the kid is for real and would just as soon have the money to pay core players who the Cowboys would like to keep here for a while. I love Tony but given simple hits knocking him out of the game I'm to the point of cutting bait and moving on.

I believe in Dak too, but we will likely end up with only $2.5M to play core players and we won't have a decent backup if something happens to Dak next year. ....and $19.4M in dead money.

If Dak turns out to be a one year wonder it will be far easier to explain than any of the other failed QBs before him. He only had an all-time historic performance from the offensive line, the leading rusher in the NFL, his receivers dropped the fewest passes in the league, and the team played one of the easiest schedules in the league with almost perfect health on offense. What could possibly go wrong?

I'm not sure laughing in the face of the Dak slobberers will make it any better, but it will help.

Imagine Romo beats the Cowboys in a Super Bowl next year. Oh then imagine what will occur on this board and in the media across the entire world!:lmao::lmao2:

I don't think he'll be a one year wonder, but I don't seem being close to that good on td/int ratio. He was very lucky last year on multiple throws that were overthrown, behind, tipped etc. those start evening out quick

Jerry will probably be hugging people in his booth either way.

Yeah the media would have a field day, its interesting to see how happy the media is that we are releasing him.

What if he gets better is the question you should be asking! Look out.

It's hard to game plan a guy that has all day to throw it.

I have faith in Dak. His success is due in large part to hard work, preparation, and excellent decision making. His intangibles aren't going to disappear. Like any QB he will experience ups and downs, but he has already demonstrated he responds well to adversity. The team is in excellent hands with our young Pro Bowl QB as it's leader.

Even if he is a one year wonder (which he isn't), why does it matter?

This team has had one winning season with Romo since 2009. He is 37, he has been injured in 3 out of his last 4 games and he hasn't played a full season since 2012.

I was a huge Romo supporter for years but Tony Romo is not the future of this team. Best case scenario, he wins some football games but you are walking on injuries knowing he is on borrowed time.

Tony Romo does not give this team the best chance to win a Super Bowl because he has not proven he can stay on the football field.

If Romo was only in his early or mid 30s, I could understand some of the panic around here but he is almost 37. 37 years old for a quarterback who has a long history of injuries and taking big hits is ancient.
Yep. This team had to move on without Tony sooner or later. Tony can't even stay healthy anymore. It's time to move forward. I think Dak is the real thing. If he isn't it's better to know before you pay him big money. People act like this is a team with a lot of playoff success.

Closest comparison would probably be RG3.............won offensive rookie of the year and then flamed out (injuries big reason)

If he is we'd be in this same predicament a year from now anyway. Lets stop with the phony well wishes.

Exactly. Seemed to me this team was made to win last year or the year prior with Romo.

Outside of the Romo injury last year, which was arguably the worst on paper any team suffered, we got lucky with health; then we got lucky by having a 4th round rookie QB play better than anyone could have hoped making the Romo injury a non-issue.

Now we have to hope the FO somehow builds a roster that's not overrun with trash, hope players with career-effecting injuries heal, hope our rookies don't regress, hope our coaches learn from their mistakes, hope new injuries don't decimate the team, and hope a more difficult-looking schedule isn't as bad on the field as it is on paper. That's a lot to hope for.
