The last 6 MVPs have been QBs. They've averaged 4700 yards, 44 total TDs and a 110 passer rating. Newton has the lowest yardage number, at 3800, and the lowest rating, at 99, but his team went 15-1 that year and he put up 45 total TDs. Brady has the lowest TD total, at 32, but he had big yards and rating and he's Brady. Generally, though, you need 4000+ yards, 34+ TDs and a 100 rating to even be in the conversation.
Of the guys on that list, Rodgers, Luck, Brees, Brady, Rivers, Wilson, Roethlisberger, Ryan, Stafford have done those numbers in the past. Newton we covered. Goff came up a bit short on TDs last year but had huge yardage. Wentz was easily on pace to meet them in 2017. Mayfield, well, he had a good rookie year and the Browns' offense is everyone's darling headed into this season.
Dak managed 3880 yards last year and a 106 rating his rookie season, but he's never produced even 30 total TDs. Even if the offense improves this year, he'll be competing with Zeke for those extra TDs. The Cowboys offense just isn't built to get Dak the MVP.
